APokemonfan created an interesting piece of concept art for the baby Pokemon Smoochum by giving it a regional variant and a new evolution separate from Jynx. Known as the Kiss Pokemon, Smoochum is an Ice and Psychic dual-type Pokemon thatfirst appeared inPokemon Gold and Silverfor the Game Boy. As one of the first baby Pokemon, Smoochum could only be obtained by breeding Jynx with another Pokemon, such as Ditto. Smoochum evolves into Jynx starting at level 30. More recently, inPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Smoochum could be obtained in the wild on the shores of Lake Acuity and in certain caves of the Grand Underground. While the Kiss Pokemon is not a Pokemon that trainers often talk about, that has not stopped one artist from creating a new concept for Smoochum.

On Reddit, aPokemonfan named EliDwebster created a Fire and Psychic regional variant for Smoochum and posted their work on the r/pokemon subreddit.Like Paldean Wooper and Clodsire, this fiery Smoochum concept would not evolve into Jynx but instead evolve into Smoocharm starting at level 30. Inspired by volcanoes and lava, the Smoochum and Smoocharm concept art retains Jynx’s blonde hair. But the new Pokemon has brown skin, an orange outfit, and pink highlights in parts of their hair. With a base stat total of 455, Smoocharm shares the same base stat total with Jynx, but has a higher special attack and more HP at the cost of its defenses being weaker than its Ice and Psychic counterpart.
The OP also gave Smoocharm a new ability called Fiery Passion. The OP commented that it would increase Smoocharm’s special attack and special defense once it drops below 50% HP and inflict all Pokemon on the field with the Burn status. Were these real, both Smoochum and Smoocharm would be strong against Steel, Fighting, Poison, andeven Ice-type Pokemon including Jynx. However,Pokemontrainers that use Dark, Water, Rock, and Ground attacks will have an easier time dealing with Smoochum and Smoocharm in battle.
While some Reddit users thought that a new regional variant and evolution for Smoochum are good ideas, a few users pointed out that the Fiery Passion ability would likely be too powerful to make into a real ability. WithpotentialPokemonnews on the horizon, it remains to be seen if Smoochum and Jynx will return to thePokemonseries.
