The Pokemon Company and Nintendo recently revealed the next generation ofPokemonwithPokemon ScarletandViolet, which release later this year. Since the teaser trailer,Pokemonfans have taken to the new starter Pokemon and have speculated on what their evolutions may look like, including a unique bandit look forSprigatito.

Reddit user Bunnybiene recently posted their idea for a final evolution forPokemon ScarletandViolet’s Grass-type starter Pokemon Sprigatito. Fan art from another user was included with several points illustrating the thought process of making a larger Grass-type cat that’s inspired by bandits from the regionPokemon ScarletandVioletis based on, the Spain and Portugal portion of the Mediterranean. According to Bunnybiene, bandits are a common theme in Spain, and part of Sprigatito’s design may hint that its evolutions are inspired by the dastardly type of character.

Pointing out that felines have the ideal physique for being bandits because of their sneaking and stealth prowess, Bunnybiene also suggested that the darker green pattern around Sprigatito’s eyes may be a leafy version of the traditional bandit mask. This mask extends beyond both of the Grass-type starter’s purple eyes and reaches almost as high as its cat ears and as low as its open mouth. Because of this design choice for the starter Pokemon, Bunnybiene theorizes that one of Sprigatito’s evolutions will be a leopard similar to Litten, which was introduced duringPokemon’s seventh generation.

Most starter Pokemon have evolved to have dual-typing since the initial games released way back in 1996, with some such as Blastoise and Typhlosion remaining dedicated to one typing. Bunnybiene has suggested that this dual-typing would remain a theme with Sprigatito’s evolutions and thePokemonfan has hinted that it will evolve to be a Grass and Dark-type Pokemon to further emphasize the bandit theme. The fan art evolution of Sprigatito created by Homez_the_memer shares similarities with Liepard and Litten while maintaining the green color scheme, and it’s Bunnybiene’s idea of what theGrass-type Pokemonwill look like after evolving.

Bunnybiene isn’t the onlyPokemonfan to create speculative art of thePokemon ScarletandVioletstarters, as Fuecoco and Quaxly have both received the same treatment. Fuecoco has been imagined as different Spanish food, while Quaxly has gotten aJojo’s Bizarre Adventuremakeover. Because Fuecoco looks similar to peppers from the regionPokemon ScarletandVioletis based on, it may not be a stretch to see Sprigatito become a bandit with its regular depiction in Spanish culture.

Pokemon ScarletandVioletwill release later in 2022 for Nintendo Switch.
