Summary
Fan art created by ambitiousPokemonfans constantly inspires new designs based on existing favorites, and some popular new fan artwork based on Miltank and its male counterpart Tauros has caught the attention of tons of players. While creating new regional variants and alternate forms for well-known creatures in thePokemonworld is certainly nothing new to fans, artists also seem to be delving into the trend of creating new pre-evolutionary “baby” Pokemon as well.
The last few generations ofPokemongames in particular have done a great job ofexpanding on existingPokemondesigns, with the introduction of regional variants, new evolutions, Paradox Pokemon, and more all providing unique perspectives on how fan-favorite Pokemon can be given fresh new designs, as well as new moves and battle capabilities. Not only that, butPokemon Scarlet and Violetwere the titles to finally bring the total roster of distinct Pokemon species beyond the 1,000 mark, so it’s no surprise that creativePokemonfans have more material to work with now than ever before.

Miltank and Tauros have always been quitepopular in thePokemongames, with Tauros even receiving a new Paldean regional variant in the Gen 9 games. One member of thePokemoncommunity known online as TEZofAllTrades felt that Miltank was deserving of the same treatment, and so they created their own fictional form for the Pokemon named Nuteran-form Miltank. This unofficial version of the critter features the Fairy-type in addition to regular Miltank’s Normal-typing, and features a color scheme that makes it more closely resemble Tauros. In addition to this design, the artist also created their own baby Pokemon known as Halfencalf, a Normal-type pre-evolution to Miltank and Tauros which incorporates various design aspects from both of these species.
Whilebaby Pokemon have existedsince some of the earliestPokemontitles as pre-evolutions to certain creatures, they’ve remained relatively uncommon over the years, with few new pre-evolutionary Pokemon being added to the national Pokedex with every new game. This has left fans to envision what new pre-evolutionary Pokemon might look like for some of their own favorite Pokemon.
All things considered, it does make sense why pre-evolutions are more scarcely introduced than new evolutions, as baby Pokemon are far less capable in battle and will almost always be evolved to their greater forms.Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC brought in various such evolutions, with Archaludon and Dipplin both offering new forms and even greater levels of power to existing Pokemon.
