APokemonfan has created a piece of art imagining what Ninetales might look like if it had a future-inspired Paradox form. The Paradox forms introduced inPokemon ScarletandPokemon Violethave led to a wave of inspired pieces of art as fans envision what theirfavorite Pokemonmight look like in the past and future. This latest piece ofPokemonfanart does just that, taking the Fire-type Pokemon Ninetales and imagining what it might look like in the far future.

For those unfamiliar, Paradox forms are a new concept added in the most recent generation ofPokemongames. InPokemon ScarletandViolet, the story involves messing around with time a bit. Those time travel shenanigans lead to a variety of Paradox-form Pokemon being brought to the present. Future Pokemon are seen inPokemon Violet, as robotic reimaginings of somePokemonfavorites. Ancient Pokemon are seen inPokemon Scarletas if they were pulled directly from the time of dinosaurs.

Artist LukeTheCyberpunk decided to make aParadox-form Pokemonof their own, transforming Ninetales into a creature pulled from the far future. Their Ninetales is named the Iron Nonuple and instead of being just a Fire-type, they’re now a Fire/Fairy-type Pokemon. The body of the Ninetales is covered in gold robotic armor with black accents and a bright red eye. Instead of long, fluffy tails, however, the Paradox-form Ninetales has bright pink floating pointed cylinders.

LukeTheCyberpunk had a specific idea in mind when they made the new Ninetales' tails, though. They say that they were thinking of lava lamps when they drew them. While it’s an odd choice, it’s hard to argue that it doesn’t lead to a very interesting design.

The Ninetales isn’t the first Paradox form created by LukeTheCyberpunk. They have a long history of other original creations, including futureParadox forms of Porygon, Jumpluff, Solrock, and Lunatone. They very likely aren’t done, either. It’ll be exciting to see what other original Pokemon designs they make in the future.

Part of what makes creating original Paradox-form Pokemon so attractive toPokemonfans is that there is so few official versions. BetweenPokemon ScarletandPokemon Violet, there are currently only 16 Paradox-form Pokemon available. More are being released infuturePokemon ScarletandVioletcontent, though. Perhaps Game Freak will take inspiration from all of these fan creations.

Pokemon ScarletandVioletare available now on Switch.
