After a long wait, Atlus has finally revealed the first projects that will be a part ofPersona’s 25th anniversary celebrations. Atlus had earlier announced that it will be hosting a25th anniversary event for thePersonaseriesin September, and today marks exactly 25 years since the release of the first game in the franchise.
Atlus had officially stated that it will be making 7Persona-related announcementsbetween September 2021 and Fall 2022. As expected, fans have been speculating about the nature of the projects for months. Some expect Atlus to go straight into the next mainline game in the series, while some others want a full remake ofPersona 3. A fighting game featuring characters fromPersona 5was also mentioned a few times, but it looks like fans will have to wait for a couple of months for new game announcements.

Atus has just released a video, aptly titled “Persona 25th Times Vol. 1”, on their official Japanese YouTube channel that details the nature of these first announcements. It is in Japanese and features Morgana fromPersona 5. Morgana mentions that he is the ambassador ofPersona’s 25th Anniversary campaign, so fans can expect to see him in all future videos. As the first announcement, Atlus will make all pastPersonaanime series available for streaming in Japan, including the live stage adaptations ofPersona 5.
The second announcement details a 25th anniversary special orchestral concert that will featurepopular tracks from thePersonaseries. It confirms that 2 live performances will take place on November 21 at Tokyo Opera City Hall. Later, Morgana mentions that Lyn will be performing at Tokyo Game Show this year, before displaying somePersonamerchandise for fans to purchase. The video highlights that titles from thePersonaseries are currently on sale in Japan, and ends with confirming that the next announcement video will be released in December.
Even though Atlus has finally started making announcements of the projects that will be a part ofPersona’s 25th anniversary, fans were probably hoping for a new game to be at the forefront of the show. While the reveal ofPersona 6may be the big finale of this campaign, there are plenty of other games that are bound to please long-time fans. Regardless, it seems like most of the non-gaming related announcements are out of the way, and it will be fair to expect that fans will have high expectations from the next show in December.
