Godfrey, First Elden Lord, is one of the endgame bosses fromElden Ringand is also, unsurprisingly, one of the most difficult fights in the game. What makes Godfrey’s fight especially difficult is that it has two distinct phases. Once Godfrey reaches 50% health, he transforms into Hoarah Loux, which completely changes the pace and flow of the fight that players had been in up until that point. This forcesElden Ringplayers to immediately adapt as Hoarah Loux uses devastating grab attacks which can drain a player’s health bar in moments.

Due to the unrelenting nature of Hoarah Loux, many players will opt to use a Spirit Ash Summon during this boss fight to split the boss’ aggression between two opponents. One of the game’s most popular Spirit Ash Summons continues to be the Mimic Tear, even after it wasnerfed in the 1.03 patch forElden Ring.

The Mimic Tear Spirit Ash Summon is so popular because it duplicates the player’s currently equipped weapons and armor. This means that the Mimic Tear can be altered in order better complement a player’s current play style. But as pointed out recently by a Reddit user named Fedneef,Mimic Tears can also be an unlikely source of comedy inElden Ring. The Redditor shared a clip to highlight this point, which shows their Mimic Tear’s heroic actions during phase two of the boss fight against Godfrey.

The clip shows the boss’ newly emerged second phase of Hoarah Loux, who uses a variety of wrestling-inspired moves, charging up one of his devastating grab attacks which is directed towards the player. Fedneef is far enough away from the boss, however, and so won’t be affected by this move, which is why it is all the more hilarious that the player’s Mimic Tear seems to run in out of nowhere and sacrifice itself to the boss' attack.

Commenters under the Reddit user’s post were quick to point out how unnecessarily dramatic the sacrifice made by the Mimic Tear was, with many fans referencing the popular Getdownmrpresident subreddit, which is dedicated to compiling similarly unexpected NPC sacrifices that players have witnessed in video games. However, this Mimic Tear’s heroic moment does somewhat suit the Hoarah Loux boss fight becauseGodfrey is considered one of the most noble bosses inElden Ring, despite his difficulty and aggression.

However, no amount of implied in-game honor can account for a strange NPC scripting moment, like a Mimic Tear willfully running into the path of one of Hoarah Loux’s brutal grab attacks. Thegrab attack of thisElden Ringbosshas been seen to cause some devastating moments for players before.
