Summary

Overwatch 2will no longer be locking new heroes behind battle passes starting with Season 10. When free-to-play hero shooterOverwatch 2first released in early access, it generated significant controversy for locking new heroes behind its battle passes. While it’s always been possible for players to still earn new heroes in the game for free, they were buried deep in the battle pass, so anyone wanting instant access would have to pay.

In a hero shooter likeOverwatch 2, it wasn’t ideal for the game’s health torestrict certain players from being able to access all the game’s heroes. This approach has been one of the most consistent complaints levied at the game since its free-to-play revamp, but it will soon be addressed.
