Rumors have persisted that a newSilent Hillgame is in active development, but no official announcement has been made. While horror game fans wait to learn if there’s any truth to theSilent Hillreboot rumors, they can look forward to new horror games that may scratch the same itch. The recently revealedWronged Usis definitely one to watch forSilent Hillfans, as it looks to combine the horror atmosphere of those classic games with someDark Soulselements.
Gameplay for open world horror gameWronged Uswas revealed at theGolden Joystick Awards, a video game award ceremony that is not quite as well known for its big world premieres as The Game Awards, but still has its fair share of exciting announcements nevertheless.Wronged Uswas one of the most exciting reveals, showing a supernatural horror game with disturbing imagery that is clearly taking inspiration from Konami’sSilent Hillfranchise.

Similarly toSilent Hill, the main character ofWronged Us, seemingly named Isaac, finds himself exploring a creepy town in search of a missing person. Isaac is subjected to all kinds of horrific sights along the way, like a child covered in blood, a weird monster that can crawl on walls, and an abnormally tall, intimidating man that looks like he was ripped straight from thecritically-acclaimed horror movieIt Follows.
TheWronged Usreveal trailer shows a little bit of combat and exploration, as well as stealth elements as Isaac has to hide from dangerous townfolk. The trailer ends with Isaac watching as a mob of people stand in front of a burning house. There’s not a ton of context for what’s going on, and it seems likehorror game fansthat want answers will have to wait forWronged Usto launch next year to find out more.
The trailer makes theSilent Hillinspirations clear, but it’s not as obvious whatWronged Usisborrowing fromDark Souls. The game’s official website alludes toDark Souls' game world and quest design inspiringWronged Us, but that’s not really on display in the gameplay trailer. The game actually has someLast of Usvibesas well, so it will be interesting to see how it all turns out.
There’s still a lot aboutWronged Usthat’s a mystery, but regardless, it looks like a promising horror game. Whether or not it can live up to the legacy of the games that have inspired it remains to be seen, but fans will find out next year.
