One Piece1082 dropped recently and it continued the pattern of Oda dropping information-packed chaptersin the Egghead arc. On top of most of the chapters being packed with information, the last few chapters have also taken the fans all over the world, throwing some focus on Elbaf, Navy HQ, Winner Island, Momoiro Island, and even the Cross Guild on Empty Bluffs Island as well.

Much to the surprise of the fans,One Piece1082 put Empty Bluffs Island on the focus and fans got to see a lot more about the functioningof the Cross Guild. Being still very new, the Cross Guild is only starting to be recognized as a major threat in the world ofOne Piece. To make things even more interesting, now, they have joined the race for the One Piece itself.
How The Cross Guild Was Created
The Cross Guild is a relatively new organization in the One Piece world. Established shortly after the dissolutionof the Shichibukai system, the Cross Guild came into existence thanks to the efforts of Sir Crocodile. After the Warlords were stripped of their titles, it was Sir Crocodile who contacted Dracule Mihawk and suggested an alliance between them. There, it was revealed to the fans that Mihawk was known in the past as the Marine Hunter and Crocodile suggested that the two team up and terrorize the Navy once again. Later on, Crocodile went to collect a debt that Buggy owed him.
Destroying all the Navy ships surrounding Buggy’s island, Crocodile was seen as an ally of the Genius Jester by the Navy. When the Cross Guild was formed and the posters for the organization were printed, Crocodile and Mihawk were drawn in such a way that they appeared to be underlings of Buggy. As such, to the world, Buggy was the mastermind behind the Cross Guild, when it was actually Sir Crocodile. Soon, bounties for the Cross Guild were issued and Buggy was named a Yonko of the Sea, with a reward of 3.189 billion berries on his head. Meanwhile, Crocodile received a 1.965 billion berry bounty while Mihawk received a 3.590 billion berry bounty.
The Current Goals Of The Cross Guild
Soon after their creations, the Cross Guild started doing what they do best and that is to hunt the Navy people. In a surprising turn of events, the pirates of the Cross Guild now started issuing bounties for the Marines. For the very first time in the story, the hunters became hunted. Pirates and civilians from all over the world started hunting down Marines and turning them into the Cross Guild for lucrative rewards. The Cross Guild paid them well and, consequently, they severely upset the balance of power on the seas.

While, initially,the goals of the Cross Guildwere just to gain more recognition, they changed their targets from that to being recognized as a prominent power on the seas. They aimed for wealth and power and, more importantly, establishing an organization that would make even the Navy think twice before taking them on in battle. While this was an admirable goal, things changed inOne Piece1082, moments after the flagship of the Cross Guild was finally created. While Crocodile and Mihawk were discussing their next move, it was Buggy who took control of the situation and declared what he wants to organization to do.
Buggy’s Hunt For The One Piece
For the vast majority of his life, Buggy has remained in the shadow of his compatriot and sworn brother, Red-haired Shanks. The two were on the Pirate King’s ship, yet it was only Shanks who was seen as the future King of the Pirates. When Shanks declared that he had no interest in being the King for the time being, Buggy was distraught and went his own way in order to get to greatness. That eventually led him to where he is today. Seeing Shanks starting to make his move for theOne Piecehas reignited the spirit inside Buggy. As he made clear inOne Piece1082, Buggy wants the Cross Guild to aim for theOne Piece.
According to him, theOne Pieceis what the heart of every pirate desires and that is what they should be aiming for, or they are no true pirates, to begin with. If they do claim theOne Piece, which is the grandest treasure of them all, then they will have wealth, fame, as well as power, which is all that Crocodile and Mihawk were aiming for and more. In his own way, Buggy has more ambition than those two and a greater conquering spirit than either of them. Buggy relayed his plan to the entirety of the Cross Guild and the organization has now actively joined the hunt for theOne Piece.They are now going to be challenging the likes of the Blackbeard Pirates, the Red Hair Pirates, andthe Straw Hat Piratesin what is going to be the greatest showdown of them all.
