One Piecefans were expecting Chapter 1079 to delve into the developments currently taking place on Egghead Island. Fans were baffled to find out the identity of the traitor. No one was expecting York to be the traitor, especially since she was one of the first satellites targeted by the Seraphim.

InOne PieceChapter 1078, York divulged her reasons for betraying Vegapunk and the rest of the satellites. After visiting Marijoa, York developed a fondness for power. She was most likely swayed by seeing how well the Celestial Dragons were treated by everyone. Considering York is the embodiment of Vegapunk’s greed, it did make sense for her to go out of her way to strike a deal with the Five Elders. York’s decision entails plenty of drama in the upcoming chapters. But in Chapter 1079, there was a major incident taking place in Elbaf.

The Second Attempt

Eustass Kid has decided to travel to Elbaf after his heroicsin the Wano Country arc. Prior to Kid going to Elbaf, he mentioned that he wanted to find the “man marked by flames.” This information wasn’t sufficient to make a guess, but things changed once it was confirmed that Jaguar D. Saul had managed to survive the Ohara incident. Given the fact that Saul was on an island that was on fire, it is plausible to assume that he would have been burned to some extent by the flames. Vegapunk also revealed that he met Saul in Elbaf, which makes it the giant’s last known location. By combining the two things, it made sense for Kid to go to Elbaf.

Kid finally arrived outside Elbafin the Egghead Island arc, and it seemed that he would effortlessly beat all of them and learn valuable information from Saul. Never in his wildest dreams would Kid have expected to run into the Red Hair Pirates. Kid and his crew had already clashed with the Yonko’s crew once, and it seemed the second clash was not far off.

The Yonko’s Onslaught

Once Shanks found out Kid was outside Elbaf, he immediately went to the Supernova’s location. Shanks' crewmates and fleet members wanted to deal with the Kid Pirates on their own as they didn’t want to get their chief involved. However, Shanks warned them not to underestimate Eustass Kid, as he was a piratewith a bounty of 3 billion berries. Shanks decided to use his Future Sight Haki, and immediately he saw a terrible outcome if Kid was not stopped.

Without wasting any time, Shanks leaped toward the Victoria Punk, and unleashed “Divine Departure.” The attack was previously used by Gol D. Roger, who used to be Shanks' captain. Roger had used the attack to send Kozuki Oden flying. Shanks' Divine Departure instantly knocked out Eustass Kid and many of his other crew members. It got to the point where Heat had to intervene and stop Shanks from killing Kid. Heat offered the Yonko all three of their Road Poneglyph copies. As soon as Shanks left, Dorry and Broggy used Hakoku Sovereignty to destroy whatever remained of the Kid Pirates.

The Massive Gap In Power

One PieceChapter 1079 was the very first time that fans saw Shanks in action. Everyone expected Shanks to be powerful, but no one could have predicted that he would take down Eustass Kid with a single attack. To put things into perspective,Trafalgar Law, who has the same bountyas Kid, managed to put up a good fight against Blackbeard, who is also a Yonko. This implies that Shanks is more powerful than Blackbeard, and he is by far the strongest character in the series.

Shanks is a master of all three types of Haki, which is hugely impressive. There are only a handful of characters in the story that have all three types of Haki, never mind having full control over all three. Kaido had access to Future Sight, but he did not use it frequently, so it is hard to judge how proficient he was. Shanks, on the other hand, was able to see the future and then used an attack coated with Advanced Conqueror’s Haki that took out almost Kid’s entire crew. It is safe to assume that no one inOne Piececan challenge Shanksand the Red Hair Pirates. Not only do the pirates fear him, but the Marines and the World Government also seem to be on good terms with him. Whether it is to maintain tranquility or for some other reason, Shanks' reputation is unmatched.

Shanks attacks Kid

With the Kid Pirates out of the race and the Heart Pirates most likely suffering defeat at the hands of Blackbeard, only three pirate crews now have a chance to claim the One Piece. These are: Straw Hat Pirates, Red Hair Pirates, and Blackbeard Pirates. The Straw Hat Pirates are currently locked in a serious duel on Egghead Island. They have proven incapable of taking down the Seraphim, and to make matters worse, a fleet of a hundred ships, along with Kizaru and Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, is on its way. In the latest chapter, Blackbeard’s ship was also seen outside Egghead Island. This leaves Shanks as the only one who is devoid of any conflict. He has previously stated his desire to claim the One Piece, and presently, no one appears to be closer to the treasure than the Red Hair Pirates' chief.
