Summary

Honkai: Star Raillaunched in April of this year, making it effectively the newest addition to HoYoverse’s line-up of gacha games. In the months since its debut, the game has become incredibly popular due to its well-designed characters, turn-based combat, and engaging storyline. Of course, sinceHonkai: Star Railis still newto the scene, there are a few core elements that are still missing from the game.

Seeing asHonkai: Star Railhad over a million registrations on iOS and Android before it was even released, the developers had quite a few expectations to meet. Still, after the success of itsBreath of the Wild-inspired titles likeGenshin ImpactandHonkai Impact 3rd, it seemed likely thatHonkai: Star Railwould garner quite a bit of attention itself. According to PlayerAuctions, by September the game had amassed over 25 million active players. Following the news that October 11 is going to be a day for the community, this already impressive player count could begin to skyrocket.

Honkai: Star Rail is Launching Soon For PS5

In just a few days, HoYoverse announced that PlayStation users will be able to join the crew of the Astral Express game in 4k. It’s also likely not a coincidence that this is coming on the same day thatVersion 1.4 ofHonkai: Star Railis rolling out. While this regular update isn’t going to include a lot of content for the main story missions, it is introducing three new five-star characters and a rerun banner for one of the best DPS in the game.

For console players, the PlayStation 5 port is likely the most interesting part of this news. HoYoverse has reportedly participated in various tests over the year to find the best version of the game, so it’s certainly been a long time coming. Additionally, Trailblazers who completed the pre-registration event for the PlayStation 5 launch will also be granted severalfree rewards inHonkai: Star Railafter logging in on October 11. This will include but isn’t limited to, 10,000 Credits, 5x Condensed Aether, 5x Adventurer Log, and 1x The Seriousness of Breakfast. All of these will be available within the in-game Mailbox.

PlayStation 5 users should be looking forward to quite a few enhancements in the release of the port. Alongside 4k resolution at 60 FPS, the developers have cited faster loading times after using the console’s SSD, DualSense haptic feedback, 3D audio support, and the ability tocross-save inHonkai: Star Railacross multiple platforms. In the future, even more features may be added, though HoYoverse hasn’t detailed any specifics just yet. The developers have also not made any comments on whether there are plans to release the game for those using a PlayStation 4.

Unfortunately for Microsoft gamers, it doesn’t seem thatHonkai: Star Railhas any current plans to come to Xbox if one considers HoYoverse’s past connections to Sony. It is interesting however that the PlayStation 5 port of the game is making its debut before theNintendo Switch version ofGenshin Impactis ready. Perhaps the optimization ofHonkai: Star Railfor the PlayStation 5 means that the long-awaited Switch version of the 2020 game is coming soon.

Honkai: Star Railis available now on PC and mobile devices, and launches on PS5 starting October 11.
