No Man’s Skyrepresents one of gaming’s biggest comebacks. At launch, the game was widely criticized for failing to live up to expectations and for missing many of the features promised byHello Games' Sean Murray. Since then, Hello Games has released updates forNo Man’s Skythat have made it much closer to the studio’s original promise, and as a result, public opinion on it has improved dramatically. NowNo Man’s Skyhas a second chance at making a first impression, as the game is set to launch alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with some major upgrades.

No Man’s Sky’snext-gen upgrade will be free to existing owners, and it is bringing quite a lot of improvements to the table. First and foremost,No Man’s Skyon PS5 and Xbox Series X will have vastly improved visuals, 4K resolution, and 60 frames per second. No Man’s Sky’s multiplayer updatewas one of the most well-received updates that the game has received so far, and the next generation version looks to make it even better. It’s been confirmedNo Man’s Skyon PS5 and Xbox Series X will support up to 32 players for multiplayer sessions.

WhileNo Man’s Sky’s next-gen port will feature pretty much all the same upgrades regardless of if one is playing on PS5 or Xbox Series X, there’s no denying that players are getting just a little bit more with the PS5 version. No Man’s Skyon PS5 will support theDualSense controller’s haptic feedback, plus advanced audio not available in the Xbox Series X version.

Not only that, butNo Man’s Skyon PS5 will support PlayStation VR, retaining the feature from the PS4 version of the game. Since the Xbox Series X doesn’t support any virtual reality headsets, Xbox owners will not be able to try the game in VR. However, there are rumors that Xbox Series X will support VR at some point down the line, so maybeNo Man’s SkyVR supportwill come to the Xbox version of the game eventually.

Regardless,No Man’s Skyon PS5 and Xbox Series Xlooks to be a massive upgrade when compared to the current-gen versions of the game, and it looks to be bolstering the launch lineups of both next-gen consoles.
