Hundreds of thousands of players are pouring intoNew World’s setting of Aeternum for the very first time, many of whom are unsure what adventures await them in the MMO.New Worldoffers a variety of diverse content upfront, including questing, crafting, and also PvP. But much of its more complex content requires players to discover it on their own as they progress. AsNew World’s most dedicated players reach higher levels, they’re sending up a warning:New World’s PvP endgame may exclude a vast majority of players.

Every time aNew Worldplayer opens their map, they see one of the MMO’s most exciting systems. Companies,New World’s version of guilds, are able to claim territories and then battle for them via a territory War. Territories are trulyNew World’s most valuable resource in many regards, but it’s all for moot if a Company isn’t able to defend them in these massive50v50 Wars. This brings up the issue of someNew Worldplayers being unable to ever participate in a War, regardless of whether they want to or not.

New Worldfeatures 15 territories in total, but only 11 of them can be claimed by a Company. Further, multiple territories can be claimed by a single Company, meaning that 11 Companies can own a territory at one time at maximum, but it’s likely to be much fewer with large Companies claiming multiple territories and Companies unable to war against those within their ownNew Worldfaction. Further, only 50 members of each company will be able to participate in their Company’s Wars. That should paint a picture of just how exclusive this aspect of the game is.

In order for aNew Worldplayer to participate in one of the MMO’s biggest endgamePvP features, they’ll not only have to join a major Company, but also be favored by the Company leadership. That’s because Company leaders can remove players they don’t like from sign-ups for Wars.

What players are worried about is that the current system for territory control, and the Wars that play a key role in that system, are unfairly exclusive. Only a minority of eachNew Worldserver’s players will ever be able to participate in the system, let alone be successful within it. Further, most players won’t even realize they’ll be kept out of the system until they’re progressive intoNew World’s endgame.

If there’s an obvious solution, it hasn’t presented itself. SomeNew Worldplayers believe that there should be a dozen or more smaller territories on each server that smaller Companies can fight for, too. Other solutions, like making Wars larger or part of theNew World’s open world, both have positives and negatives. Regardless, this is likely an issue that’s going to become a larger point of discussion in the months to come.
