Borderlands 3fans are currently awaiting an announcement as to what its next DLC and event line-up should be. Presumably, there will be another event like The Bloody Harvest (perhaps for Valentine’s Day?), a new Takedown, and another story DLC before repeating the process. Fans are still in the dark on specifics, but a recent data mine and listing of allcut content inBorderlands 3revealed something interesting: not one, but two potential story DLCs.
As with all rumors and leaks, this information should be taken with a major grain of salt. After all, it doesn’t seem to have been the intent to discoverBorderlands 3DLC and there’s no surefire way of knowing, but it’s worth speculating and considering nonetheless. Be warned: on the off-chance that these rumors are legitimate, then this means there could beSPOILERSinvolved.

Borderlands 3 Story DLC Leak Details
Bar Man and the Second Stars
The first DLC reportedly has the working, if not actual, title of Bar Man and the Second Stars. It would seem that it involves a spaceship port on an asteroid, an infiltration mission regarding mercenaries known as the Second Stars to save a Bartender’s son, and there’s reportedly some type of trials involved. The leader of the Second Stars used to be a Vault Hunter. Notably, there’s a Dahl silo near the spaceship port, which could all point to a couple of facts concerning the potential DLC.

In regards to this being DLC, it fits the stylistic bill so far. It sounds more like a DLC expansion than a sidequest considering how involved it is, especially with the return of a Vault Hunter. It’s uncertain at this time, but asMad Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpotsaw the return of Timmy, aka Jack’s Doppelganger, it certainly makes sense for future DLCs to involve a Vault Hunter or two as well.
In this case, given the Dahl silo, it could very well beBorderlands 2’s Axton. Many know that he spent 10 years in the Dahl military service before going AWOL, so he could have went rogue, started a military force of his own, and is engaging Dahl for some unknown reason.
Bug Smuggler’s TV Show
Less convincing is the discovery of the Bug Smuggler’s TV Show, which seems Vault Hunters helping out a producer named Todd whose entire crew died. It seems this was due to a box of infected bugs, and there’s another character mentioned named Captain Hal. In terms of DLC, there’s really not a lot going for this one and sounds subpar compared to thestandard ofBorderlandsDLCthat came before it.
Vulcan
There’s also mentions of a new planet called Vulcan that could have some role in DLC. The leading theory on this appears to be that any DLC here would bring backKrieg as an NPC inBorderlands 3, if only because the name “Vulcan” relates to the Roman god of fire and its destructive qualities. Admittedly, it sounds like a plausible premise, but this is only speculation.
Can This Borderlands 3 Leak Be Trusted?
The big question is whether or not the source and these leaks can be believed. The data miner has, in the past, revealed theKrieg audio files that show he was cut fromBorderlands 3, as well as the Mad Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot ahead of its reveal. As far as the rumor wheelhouse goes, then DelusionPhantom has the pedigree.
But then there’s what he was looking for vs. what he found. Considering he was looking through the game files for cut content, a lot of this can simply left as cut content and sidequests. Bar Man and the Second Stars, for example, could have just been an elaborate sidequest (or even series of sidequests), and the Bug Smuggler’s TV show sounds more like a side quest than DLC. Ultimately, Vulcan could have just been another planet said to appear in the game that got cut. To his credit, DelusionPhantom is open about this and calls everything potential DLC, making it clear that it’s based on his analysis and thoughts vs. concrete proof.
On the other hand, it’s not uncommon for a game to have a bit of code or content that is later expanded upon. This could mean that it’s a bit of both: Bar Man and the Second Stars, as well as the planet Vulcan, could appear later in DLC, whereas Bug Smuggler’s TV show proves to just be a sidequest that got cut. Really, there’s so many ways for this to go that, without something more concrete, there’s little reason to believe this is anything more than cut content.
All things considered, fans will just want to wait and see what Gearbox Software announces for its nextBorderlands 3roadmap and DLC. Perhaps there will be something there that either proves or disproves these rumors, but until then, there’s no harm as to checking out a few rumors like these.
Borderlands 3is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
