While the sudden success ofHelldivers 2put the long-awaited sequel on the map for gamers, it did not come without its share of growing pains. As the player count continued to rise on both Steam and PS5, Arrowhead Game Studios has kept players informed about its ongoing efforts to stabilize the game’s servers. Due to its success, the servers ofHelldivers 2have been unstable,resulting in players receiving errorsthat indicate a failed connection to the game. In light of the growing pains, Arrowhead’s CEO Johan Pilestedt has stated that the studio is doing all it can, including hiring more staff, to both stabilize the game’s servers and to help with game content production.
Helldivers 2 Continues Its Efforts to Crush More Bugs
In the meantime, the latestHelldivers 2update should help with Arrowhead’s continued efforts.Helldivers 2version 01.000.009 was released one day after version 01.000.008 went live on Steam and PS5. Theprevious version update forHelldivers 2was a support patch that addressed matchmaking filters to exclude full ones and to fix three major crashes that were related to particle rendering and ragdoll physics. With version 01.000.009, more crashes were dealt with. Crashes that could occur in both extraction cutscenes and while shooting the SMG-37 Defender gun in ADS mode were fixed. A matchmaking issue that caused invalid data transmissions was also addressed, and improvements to the game’s lobby sorting and connectivity systems were made. The difficulty of multiple modes was adjusted, including the Eradicate mission, which saw increases in both the difficulty and the mission timer.
Thouugh some problems with the game’s high server load remained persistent, Arrowhead stated the issues will continue to be worked on. As part of Arrowhead’s efforts to giveHelldivers 2players a better experience, the studio addeda temporary XP and Requisition multiplierof 50% to compensate for a bug that affected rewards. The multiplier will last until the end of Sunday, February 18.
Even though the game’s issues are an ongoing matter,Helldivers 2is a fun experiencefor fans both old and new. Only time will tell how long it will take for Arrowhead to fix most of the game’s server problems.
