Marceline ofAdventure Timeis being hinted at as a possible addition toMultiVersus' roster.Adventure Timehas been a prominent brand inMultiVersus, with both Finn and Jake appearing as fighters when the game launched. Now thatMultiVersushas been available for some time, it wouldn’t be surprising ifAdventure Timewas returned to for even more characters. Marceline isn’t the onlyAdventure Timecharacter deserving of a chance, but she might be the most popular.While Finn and Jake may be the only full characters released inMultiVersus,developer Player First Gameshas added plenty ofAdventure Timecontent otherwise, as well. For example, there are Cake skins for Jake that have Cake’s voice acting. Fern, a Finn skin, is similarly voiced by the correct voice actor. There’s also anAdventure TimeTree Fort stage, multipleAdventure Timeannouncer packs, ringouts, stickers, icons, banners, and more.Adventure Timeis easily one ofMultiVersus' most prominent crossover brands.RELATED:MultiVersus Dev Hints at Walter White Joining the RosterIt’s perhaps not a major surprise then to seeMultiVersusgame director Tony Huynhteasing the possibility of Marceline joining the game’s roster. In a post on Twitter, Huynh asked his follower a question regarding what Marceline’s default outfit should be. He followed that up with a suspicious, “100% not saying anything, but just curious.” The poll options Huynh provided were for Marceline’s gray shirt and her red shirt.
While Huynh may be trying to avoid the appearance of announcing anew fighter forMultiVersus, it’s difficult to read his tweet as anything less. He’s asking about a default skin choice, which would mean Marceline would be a playable fighter. Of course, Huynh may just be settling a bet he had with another developer, asking a hypothetical question with no actual intent to add Marceline to the game. It seems odd he’d stir up theMultiVersusfanbase just for fun, though.
Marceline could be added as an alternate character skin, of course. It’s hard to imagine who she’d be a skin for. But, for example, Jake has two different Cake skins with the default Cake and Calico Cake variant. It just goes to show that there could be a default Marceline skin and an alternate one as well.
Whether Marceline is eventually added toMultiVersusremains to be seen, but with or without Huynh’s tweet about the vampire’s outfits, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise.Marceline is a fun and well-loved character fromAdventure TimeandMultiVersuscontinues to add fighters at a rapid rate. Grey or red shirt, Marceline’s a great choice. Whether she should be added before or after Princess Bubblegum seems like the more difficult choice.
