Whether it’s a small giggle or a hearty laugh, these characters sound scary. The chances that they’re laughing after doing something cruel is pretty and doesn’t bode well for anyone around them. Even if they seem nice and innocent, their laughter shows a completely different side that most should fear and get as far away from them as possible. These characters have thescariest laughs in animeout there.
Almost all the characters are unhinged in this show, but there’s justsomething about Shionthat makes her memorable. Even those who haven’t seen the show know about her and her iconic laughing moments. It’s hard to pick one, but the most memorable one is when she laughs after Rika takes her own laugh. The image just looks terrifying and hearing laugh is something that’s cemented into the minds of those who’ve seen it.
Shion is just an overall terrifying character and hearing her laugh will make a lot of people uncomfortable. When she starts laughing, everyone should be very afraid of what’s to come or what she already did.
If there’s one irredeemable character in the anime world: it’s Sukuna. He’s utterly sadistic, selfish, and narcissistic, and enjoys bringing pain to everyone around including his host, Yuji Itadori. If anyone was expecting them to get along at some point, it’s not happening. Sukuna enjoys it whenever Yuji is in pain as seen when he laughed at Yuji for asking him to help Junpei.
Seeing Sukuna for the first timewas already pretty scary, but hearing him laugh was downright terrifying. Hearing just everyone know that he was going to be a major figure in the series and someone the characters needed to keep an eye on.
Younger Toguro might be the most memorable villain fromYu Yu Hakusho, but his brother is also a pretty terrifying figure. Despite his small stature, Elder Toguro isone of the toughest foesYusuke and his friends have ever fought. Being able to move heart and brain wherever he pleases in his body that his shapeshifting ability. Elder Toguro is the complete opposite in both the appearance and personality of his younger brother.
He takes great pleasure in torturing his victims both physically and mentally. Hearing him laugh during his fights is scary to see since he’s usually torturing his victims in a brutal fashion or just toying with them.
Maybe he doesn’t have the most dramatic one, but Blackbeard’s laugh is pretty memorable andOne Piecefans can’t help but parody it. He’s everything one would expect a pirate captain to be. He’s deceptive, power-hungry, arrogant, and intelligent. What makes him terrifying is that he’s the only one in the world whowields the power of two very powerful Devil Fruitsand murdered their previous wielders.
While his laugh might sound a little more funny than others, fans know that if he’s laughing, it can’t be good. He usually laughs when he’s furthered his goals or has done something unapologetically evil.
It shouldn’t be too surprising thatsomeone as powerful as Madarahas a scary laugh. Considering it took the combined efforts of almost every single ninja from all the nations and all of the Tailed Beasts to stop him, he has every right to laugh. He’s arguably the strongest character in theNarutoseries and very few can actually put up a good fight against him.
His laughter doesn’t stem from making others suffer, but it shows just how much he loves fighting. Regardless, hearing him laugh made fans realize this is it. So many battles had been fought to get to this point and Madara back at full power meant this was going to be a battle for the ages.
AnyDeath Notefan knew that if Light was laughing, someone was going to die, or he killed someone. He has plenty of laughs throughout the series, but there are two moments that really stand out. First, his laugh at L’s grave was utterly terrifying because this marked that Light had no one blocking him from his goals. In the end, he’dwon the battle of witsbetween them and saw this as his best victory.
His other notorious laugh is when he is finally caught and tells everyone his plans. It was clear that Light wasn’t going to make it out alive one or another, but hearing him laugh left fans on edge to see what he’d do next.
For only appearing in one episode, Mad Pierrot has become pretty iconic for various reasons. The way he moves,his clown-esque attire,and his overall character arc made him one of the best villains inCowboy Bebop. If seeing him didn’t send chills down the spines of viewers then his laugh certainly did. It was maniacal, twisted, and creepy, and even Spike was scared of this guy.
Spike is not one to be scared easily and he’s an experienced bounty hunter, but it’s safe to say he was outmatched. Even with Faye’s help, the two of them only made it out alive through luck. Either way, Mad Pierrot is sure to live on in the minds of fans forever.
Frieza is so iconic for justhow evil and ruthless he isin theDragon Ballseries. He’s wiped out entire planets and enslaved any survivors, and there are not many who can stop him. While he does have some laughs throughout the whole series, nothing compares to his laugh when he wiped out Planet Vegeta. The laugh he let out as his Supernova got bigger and then made its way to the planet was just pure evil.
He continued laughing after Planet Vegeta was destroyed and reveled in his victory. Even after being brought back as an ally of sorts inDragon Ball Super, Frieza is still terrifying to have around and his laughter is still scary to hear.
Yuno is basically thequeen of yandere femalesin the anime world, so it shouldn’t be surprising that she has a scary laugh to match. Yuno is known for being cold and mentally unstable, but she’s very calculating when it comes to her plans. If fans thought an angry Yuno was the scariest thing to witness, her laugh is just absolutely scary and bone-chilling.
If she’s laughing, chances are that someone is about to get seriously hurt or die. It usually doesn’t bode well if Yuno is around, but it’s definitely frightening if she starts laughing and gets that crazy yandere look on her face.
TheNarutoseries has plenty of villains that are scary, but Hidan is something else. This man was just so sadistic, arrogant, and insane that fans were happy when Shikamaru defeated him. Hearing him laugh as he fought against Asuma and used the Curse Technique: Death Controlling Possessed Blood jutsu was beyond scary. Fans could only watch in horror as Hidan caused harm to himself, which didn’t do anything to him thanks to immortality, while Asuma was the one who truly suffered the injuries.
Hidan clearly didn’t care who suffered from his jutsu and clearlyenjoyed watching his victims suffer.He might not have been the strongest villain in the overall series, but it can’t be denied that Hidan was one of the creepiest and most terrifying.
