NetherRealm is at it again, throwing lip service at the possibility of including Mileena as a DLC character through the latest fighter to join theMortal Kombat 11roster. This is nothing new for NetherRealm, as the company recently poked fun at dataminers through theTerminator’s Termo-Visiondeath screen.

Mileena in particular has been one of the most highly requested DLC characters forMortal Kombat 11, with some fans upset that she wasn’t included with the base game. However, one of Sindel’s opening conversations may hint that she at least still exists in theMortal Kombatuniverse, even if a tweet by the game’s official Twitter account might be somewhat contradictory.

In the opener, if Sindel is facing off against D’Vorah, a character with a lore connection to Mileena, Sindel will make a comment about how D’Vorah betrayed her daughter. Specific lore implications aside, it does mean that Mileena is still recognized in the canon ofMortal Kombat 11as being an active player in the background story. With all of that being said, it would seem as though Mileena is soon to join the ever growing list of DLC characters, until a tweet quickly squashed those rumors and added her to the list ofcharacters never coming toMortal Kombat 11.

With text reading “RIP Mileena 1993-2015” on the tweet, referencingMileena’s death by D’VorahfromMortal Kombat Xin 2015, NetherRealm seems to be confirming that the highly requested character won’t be coming back due to a nasty case of melted skull. This reflects what the developers already confirmed in the Terminator/datamine troll as well, including Mileena on a list of characters that will obviously not be coming to the game, such as Mocap. So fans may have to wait a long time before NetherRealm decides to resurrect Mileena and reintroduce her into the franchise.

For now, if fans are looking for anything new from Mileena, they may need to start looking towards the upcomingmovie reboot’s random cast of charactersrather than anywhere in the game. Between her death inMortal Kombat Xand her inclusion on the Termo-vision datamine hack, it would seem as though NetherRealm has no intention of adding Mileena intoMortal Kombat 11anytime soon.
