Relics inMonster Hunter: Rise, one ofCapcom’s best and most-beloved franchises, aren’t exactly the ‘main’ thing players are focusing on. The game is about hunting monsters, after all, among a few other things, so many players only end up grabbing these Old Messages and Relic Records when they happen to pass by them. That said, collecting all of them at each level has a variety of uses.

For one, it nets about 10,000 Kamura Points for all the Old Messages and 2,000 more if there are Rampage Messages. Additionally, each area where all the Relics are collected will lead to the player getting different monster ‘carving’ sculptures to place in their room. This isn’t the most bombastic reward, but absurdly dedicated playerswho really like to customize their Hunter and their hub area will absolutely benefit from collecting these. So, let’s go over where each one is located in the Frost Islands ofMonster Hunter: Rise.
Old Message 1
The first Old Message is pretty easy to find as it’s out in the open and easy to see, as long as the Hunter manages to get up there. To obtain this, simply head to Area 7 on the map, where many players tend to remember as the place they most oftenfight the terror that is Khezu. Once here, look for the large elevated ‘plateau’ in the center of the area. Players will know they’re looking at the right thing if they’re unable to run up its walls.
Then, either with some well-used Wire bugs or by hopping and zipping over from the other nearby raised terrain, get on top of this plateau. Once this is done, head to the ‘right’ side of the Pagoda in the center of the area (using the map to determine left and right) and the Relic sword should be right there in the ground just before the Torii Gate.
Old Message 2
As for the second Old Message, it’s really rather simple to get. Just head to the patch of snow just about the ‘curve’ of Area 1 and look for a tall tree with a trunk that goes ‘level’ near the top of it. Climb this tree, then climb up the next section of the thick trunk, and the Relic Record should be struck into the tree right in front of the Hunter.
Old Message 3
The next Message is a bit more hidden compared to the first two, for sure. To reach it, players need to go to the northern entrance to the cave that leads down to Area 2. But, instead of going into the entrance of the cave, look to the right. Follow this wall and climb up the bit of elevated land.
On this raised area, look near the top of this cliff face for an opening. The Hunter should spot it right before running out of land to walk on in this raised area. Run up the wall, head into the cave, and grab the Relic Record at the end of it.
Old Message 4
Moving on to another Message found in a hidden cave, Old Message 4 is found very close to Message 3. From the place where Old Message 3 was found, head north until the Hunter reaches that little watery area to the right of Area 3. In the bottom right-hand corner of this area (clearly visible from the broken bridge players can climb on top of) is a hole in the rock wall. Venture into this cave and follow it to the end to get the Old Message 4 Relic Record.
Old Message 5
Old Message 5 is probably the most cleverly hidden of the 10 of them. To access it, players will need to bring Barrel Bombs of at least the Large or Mega variety (some weapon attacks work for this as well, depending on the weapon). Then, head to Area 5 and climb up the bottom-most part of the raised terrain to its north.

Look around this area and the Hunter should run into some while Felynes and Melynxes hanging around their base of operations. Look around this area for a cute Hunter-sized Palic-snowman. This is the Relic Record, it’s inside the snowman. To get it, simply place or throw a Barrel Bomb and destroy the snowman covering it.
Old Message 6
For Old Message 6, there have likely been plenty of Hunters that climbed onto the boat wreckage at the top of Area 8 to look for secrets, but how many of them went all the way up to the crow’s nest? Well, if they had, they would’ve found the Relic Record for Old Message 6 sitting right there are the top.
Old Message 7
Not only is the area this next Relic is found good for Relic collectors, it’s also just great for material hoarders as well. There are Mining Outcrops, Bugs, Spider Webs, and more in the hidden cave the Hunter will have to crawl into while following the right-most path that goes from Area 11 to Area 12.
Once the Hunter has crawled into there, look to the left and there should be a small raised platform with the Old Message 7 Relic Record sitting right on top.
Old Message 8
Not many people naturally stumble upon Old Message 8, as it’s hidden in a cave on the eastern-mode end of the raised terrain below Area 8. To get here, players simply need to head to this raised area and follow it southward until they reach a small patch of even further-raised terrain.
Instead of climbing up it, follow the border of this raised area to its eastern side, and there should be a small man-made opening leading into a cave with Old Message 8’s Relic Record right in the middle of it.
Old Message 9
This is the Relic Record that both takes the most work to reach and is the most fun to reach, by far. Old Message 9 is sitting there right near the top of the giant tower of rock and snow at the top of Area 9 that players can see from anywhere on the map.
Most players likely already found that they could climb up to this area just by experimenting, but barely any realized they could climb even higher. Not only is there a Buddy Recon spot up herefor those who boughtSunbreak, but on a small outcropping just above it and slightly to the west is the Relic Record for Old Message 9.
Old Message 10
Last up for the Old Messages is the one in an area most players probably didn’t even realize was accessible. Anyone who has hunted a decent amount in the Frost Islands to collectsome amazing Armor Setshas likely seen the gigantic ‘skylight’ in Area 12 that Flying Wyverns tend to use to run to another part of the map.
But, who would have guessed it was possible to get up there? To do so, players will want to get onto their Palamute, run towards one of the outer ‘edges’ of this skylight, jump with their Palamute, and then jump off the Palamute mid-air to start Wirebugging up to this edge (just another example ofhow funRise’straversal mechanics can be). If players find this to still be too difficult, there should be a temporary Wirebug that players can knab nearby for a total of 3. Climb up to the top of this skylight to find a little raised area with some more Torii Gates, some Mining Outcrops, a few plants, and Relic Record 10.
Rampage Message 3
Closing things off with the two Rampage Messages that can also be found in the Frost Islands, both of which are pretty well hidden. The first of the two, Rampage Message 3, is found on that bit of raised terrain that sticks out of the top-left side of Area 6.
And, while this looks inaccessible and unclimbable, players can just use the raised Terrain to the right of it that surrounds the Sub-Camp outside of the cave leading to Area 11. Hop from this area, across the strip of snow below, to the patch of isolated land that has Rampage Record 3 right underneath the first tree players will see on it.
Rampage Message 4
For the final Relic Record collectible on the Frost Islands, players can also find it in Area 6. It’s at the top of the incredibly tall peak of snow at the bottom left of this area. To get up here, players will need to find their way up to the bit of raised land below the peak, likely by hopping from adjacent raised terrain just south of the Sub-Camp in Area 6. After reaching this raised area and grabbing the resources up here, go around to the most south-western side of that tall peak,
Players should see some Jewel Lillies here that will house a Giant Wirebug that takes them right up to this Mining Outcrop at the peak with the Relic Record just before it.
