In 2011, Mojang released the full version ofMinecraftunto the world, and gaming has never been quite the same ever since. Asone of the highest-grossing video games of the last decade, selling more than 200 million copies as of 2020, it’s hard to imagine a time when people will simply put the open world title down and never pick it up again. That time, fortunately, is not due any time soon, and fans are still contributing to the expansive blocky realm, and sometime those builds are not always adorable.
Uploading a couple of images to theMinecraftSubreddit recently, the aptly named user minecrafix has shown off their latest creation, a giant hand that sticks out of the ground in the nether. The structure is topped off with a clever use of stalagmites on the outstretched digits as makeshift claws. The whole hand has a creepy, almost witch-like-quality to it, and other commenters in the thread have praised the original poster, especially for the way they’ve made the aforementioned claws.

What’s interesting about this is that it’s just one part of a much bigger build.Minecraftcan have its spooky moments, and sure enough, minecrafix mentioned to one user that the giant hand is simply part of a larger project. On their Reddit profile, there are a number of images posted from a couple of months ago which depict a witch’s house. At the bottom of a couple of the uploads, there resides the giant hand, sticking out menacingly. While the complete build is very impressive, just the hand alone was obviously something the user was particularly proud of as they isolated it for this latest post.

Halloween may be over now, but this little slice ofMinecrafthorroris still an intriguing display of player creativity. People in the Reddit thread are clearly impressed with the build, the fact that it looks quite “fleshy,” or that it glows in an ominous manner, not to mention the fact that it was built in one of the more creepy realms of the game.
As agame with near-infinite replay value, there will always seemingly be new things for fans to do and to see. Displaying them for others to enjoy is part of the fun of building something in the first place. While the title alone is good enough to be enjoyed by millions, and has been for ten years now, it’s the community which helps keep it alive and well with interesting and creative projects.
Minecraftis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
