Ever since the conception of the PlayStation5, fans have been hearing whispers andscoops about a rumored remake ofMetal GearSolid. It isn’t something confirmed, but neither is it outright denied. Fans would love to see anotherMetal Gear, especially with the power of consoles today.
9Amazing Graphics
Ever since the original PlayStation release ofMetal GearSolid, the series has been pushing the boundaries of what is possible on each new console. That includes Kojima and his team from having to remove features, simply because they would not be able to fit on the disc due to the consoles’ hardware limitations.
With next-gen now the mainstream, and Xbox Series X’s and PlayStation5’s being up to the standard of most modern PCs, nothing is stopping theMetal GearSolidremake from featuring a great set of realistic graphics. ThePhantom Painstill looks amazing today, so it is only wondering what graphics will look like for the series past 2022.

8Stealth Segments
Titled as a “Tactical Espionage Action” game,Metal GearSolidchanged the game when it came to stealth, and how the player chooses to embark on their mission. Many people compete and impress each other with their stealth abilities. Whether that is remaining undetected, non-lethal, or being a complete ghost. Either way,the sound when being caughtwas great.
TheMetal Geargames often have playerscrawling through vents, diving past walls, and hiding behind corners. Not to forget the iconic box that Snake often hides in. The remake deserves a plethora of stealth sections, to make the player truly feel like a tactical mastermind.

7MGS 3’s Injury System
Metal GearSolid3:Snake Eaterwas extremely innovative in its design. Whereas games like Far Cry have the player pull shrapnel and lodged bullets from their skin in a quick and gruesome animation,Metal GearSolid3does something more unique. In the game, players will need to open up their character screen and assess and manage their injuries.

If Snake falls, he could break a bone, and limit his stamina. If he has been stung by hornets or shot in a specific location, he will lose health. The player will need to maintain Snake’s health by healing him in the correct order and using antiseptics and splints. This is a feature that should be greatly revised for the rumored remake.
6Dietary Needs
Kojima often strives for some sense of realism in his games. Death Stranding featured a great deal of realism. One ongoing instance has the protagonist, Sam, needing to change his footwear depending on how worn his shoes were on his travels.Metal GearSoliddoesn’t shy away from other forms of realism.
One such event occurs inMetal GearSolid3, in which food is required to refill Naked Snake’s stamina. This can be done by finding rations, other snacks, or hunting the food. Players can utilize traps and their guns to kill snakes, crocodiles, and vermin to eat them and regain health and stamina, but some are more poisonous than others, it is unknown ifKojima’s desire for pet ratscould be eaten.

5Involvement From Hideo Kojima
Metal GearSolidwould be not even a thought if it was not for the creative genius of Hideo Kojima. This video game pioneer is a staple of the video game industry and led the development of mostMetal Geargames. Without his leadership, or creative skills in both writing and directing, then the franchise would not have such a legacy.
In doing a reboot, Konami should establish ties with their old colleague to at least ask for some form of input from the creator ofMetal Gear. Whether that is merely consulting or a blessing for the game’s reboot. Kojima’s involvement is important for fans of the series, who remain loyal to Kojima.

4Narrative Threads
Some fans of theMetal GearSolidfranchise have not playedMetal Gear. The overhead military action-adventure game was created in 1987 for the MSX2 computer. There is no shame in not having played this game, for both its age and accessibility. However, the story forMetal Gearis entirely important for the3D games sinceMetal GearSolidin 1998.

No one could know just how long-lasting, and how much back and forth the narrative threads would weave from the originalMetal GeartoMetal GearSolid5. Going in for a reboot, the game has the information needed to make everything fit every so perfectly together. From characters like Psycho Mantis, to evenSolidSnake.
3The FOX Engine
The cross-platform game engine created by Kojima Productions was created with the vision of having the best engine in the world. The FOX engine spent years in development and strived for both photo-realism and an intensely detailed set of realistic physics.
The first game to utilize the FOX engine wasMetal GearSolid5:Ground Zeroes. The game acted mostly as a demo forPhantom Pain, and the FOX engine itself. It’s an incredibly smooth and well-built engine, with countless fun to be had. The reboot should return to this great engine for that seamless feel.

2Metal Gear Running Gags
For a game series that delves so deep into political commentary and action espionage, it’s surprising to seea lot of comedy in the games.Metal Gearis no stranger to humor and has a few running gags that make fans feel good for knowing. Whether that’s Snake saying “kept you waiting, huh?”, to the iconic cardboard box in which the player can hide.
The reboot can easily feel like a love letter to the original games, with the inclusion of humor. Whether that’s breaking the fourth wall, or providing fans with the toilet humor involved with the “Johnny” joke. The game is a lot of fun, for both gags and gameplay.

1David Hayter
Despite housing a great career in screenwriting, acting, and voicing characters, David Hayter is best known and world-renowned for his role asSolidSnake andBig Bossfrom theMetal Gearseries. Hayter’s gruff voice for the Snakes is iconic, and part ofMetal Gear’s identity.
WithMetal GearSolid5, Kojima Productions sadly left Hayter behind for Kiefer Sutherland as Big Boss. Bringing Hayter back is the right call, considering his voice is so iconic for the character and has been featured in the Super Smash Bros. franchise twice, and Hayter has provided great performances in every game featured.
