Marvel’s many outlets for media are saturating and overwhelming, but with new continuities and IPs within its larger franchise, Marvel characters can stand out depending on their iterations on the IP. It can then be exciting in a game likeMarvel’s Midnight Suns, where fans may go into it with a preconceived notion of what its characters will be like, only to be pleasantly surprised if they are much more original or have a unique spin on them.Marvel’s Midnight Suns, in fact, seems to have some of this originality.

Certain Heroes Will Also Be Presented as Villains in Marvel’s Midnight Suns
One ofMarvel’s Midnight Suns’ most intriguing character additionsis Scarlet Witch, who was the last character to be announced alongside Spider-Man. Little about her character inMarvel’s Midnight Sunshas been shared already, but what has been shared sets her apart from all the other playable characters.
Scarlet Witch will at some point be corrupted by Lilith, and her part inMarvel’s Midnight Suns’ original narrative looks significant from cutscenes previously showcasing her. Because she is playable, it suggests that she may either be rescued from corruption and then playable, or playable until she is corrupted. Either way, it will be interesting to see how this affectsMarvel’s Midnight Suns, such as if she could potentially be stronger as an antagonist if players had spent time upgrading her cards and passive abilities.
Moreover, this dynamic may have implications for which characters appear. Characters such asMoon Knight and Daredevil have been referenced inMarvel’s Midnight Suns, for example, and while either may or may not end up becoming the game’s final unlockable character, it may be possible that players will encounter them as corrupted or fallen antagonists.
It has already been revealed that Hulk becomes corrupted as well, and therefore the likelihood of other classic Marvel heroes becoming antagonists inMarvel’s Midnight Sunsis high. The game will already feature ordinary and corrupted Marvel super-villains, butMarvel’s Midnight Sunshas a wonderful opportunity to showcase heroes that did not make the cut into its playable character roster as antagonists instead.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns Features Classic Hero and Villain Pairings
Character twists aside, it is fun to see thatMarvel’s Midnight Sunswill feature classic rivalry match-upsbetween characters and their nemeses. Some of these pairings come in the form of large-scale organizations that players will be defeating reinforcements from throughout the game, such as Captain America getting a chance to ricochet his vibranium shield between HYDRA agents.
This also applies to heroes and villains who may be introduced alongside each other, such as Wolverine and Sabretooth or Spider-Man and Venom. These pairings may be overused, but in Marvel’s connected universe it is fun to see these interactions and how they establish relationships between characters.Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ social RPG featuresallow players to become acquainted with its playable characters, and it is through these conversations and interactions that more may be learned about them and their backstories in the game.
Likewise, if characters come across enemies of theirs while out on a combat mission, fans should be able to expect them to have personalized dialogue that they would not have heard if they did not have that character accompanying them in theirthree-characterMarvel’s Midnight Sunsparty. Of course, it may not be clear exactly what players will face in each subsequent mission, but players may be treated to debriefs that let them know precisely what they are up against. In the latter’s case, players who may not regularly select Spider-Man, for example, may want to bring him along if they know they will be fighting Venom. This may have no significance on actual gameplay or narrative, but it would be entertaining to see the pair interact nonetheless.
Firaxis’ Take on Midnight Sons is Original and Therefore Unpredictable
BecauseMarvel’s Midnight Sunsmaintains its own canonapart from the Midnight Sonscomic book that inspired it, it has the opportunity to upend players’ expectations and craft a wholly original narrative.Marvel’s Midnight Sunsis not restricted to any plots or character arcs from other source material, and therefore players could end up seeing developments that may surprise them.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ classic hero and villain pairings thus far seem fairly standard, but again the fact that heroes can become corrupted means that any character on the player’s roster may be susceptible. It would be interesting to see Firaxis and 2K create new character dynamics that are not necessarily traditionally depicted in the comics, and it is incredible that they had decided to addcharacters such as Nico Minoruand Magik, who may not be familiar to fans of Marvel that only know the franchise by its MCU outings.
Indeed,Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ addition of the customizable Hunter characteris a fantastic opportunity, introducing an entirely new character to the mythos at the same time as being instrumental to its unpredictable narrative. The Hunter’s character is a huge question mark and while it seems like they may be less important or interesting while they are next to the likes of Iron Man or Doctor Strange,Marvel’s Midnight Sunswill hopefully make some exciting twists with its protagonist as well.
