Summary
WithCall of Dutyunusually releasing two successive games belonging to the same sub-franchise, it is clear to see why the fans are excited at the prospect of a change next year. 2024’sCoDrelease is set to be spearheaded by veteran studio Treyarch, with datamines, leaks, and rumors supposedly giving fans a lot of early information on what this project will eventually look like.
As is the case with manyCall of Dutyleaks, the setting of 2024’s title is the subject of fiery debate, with many rumors currently pointing towards the game being set during the Gulf War. This would logically follow on from Treyarch’s lastCoDtitle,Black Ops Cold War, which itself was set in the 1980s. With the Gulf War spanning from 1990 to 1991, the recently introduced characters ofCold Warcan make subsequent appearances in 2024, with the game of course having to pay respect to the real locations that were at the center of the conflict. If this rumored location holds weight, then there are some locations from the war that will be more than likely to appear as multiplayer maps forCoD’s 2024 installment.

While many rumors point towards a Gulf War setting for 2024’s Call of Duty, this is not officially confirmed. Either way, Nuketown will likely be back.
2024’s Call of Duty Maps Would Pull From Real-Life Battles
CoDhas historically used real conflicts as the settings of its games, with a good level of discretion usually being used to represent them in a respectful and nuanced way. Using a real-world conflict as the inspiration behind 2024’sCall of Dutywould ultimately require the game to pay respects to the battles and locations that occurred during the Gulf War. While many of these influential battles were tank and naval conflicts, some ground engagements would be huge candidates for representation in 2024’sCall of Duty.
The Battle of Jalibah Airfield would fall under this category, being a pivotal conflict between Iraqi and Coalition forces in 1991. The abundance of vehicles, aircraft, and buildings in a desert setting would perfectly encapsulate the Gulf War andthe themes that 2024’sCoDwill likely explore, making Jalibah Airfield a sensible candidate for a map in the upcoming project.

Another historic moment from the Gulf War was the Battle of Dasman Palace, which saw Iraqi forces storm the residence of the Emir of Kuwait. With this being one of the defining conflicts that saw the Gulf War reach a high level of global involvement, a portrayal of Dasman Palace in2024’sCall of Dutywould be a smart move on Treyarch’s part.
Call of Duty 2024: The Gulf War’s Largest Battles Would Need Representation
One of the largest conflicts in the Gulf War was the Battle of Kuwait International Airport, which saw American forces face off against Iraqi contingents who had commandeered some of Kuwait’s most important infrastructure. Apast and extremely popularCall of Dutymap, Terminal, also took place in an airport of similar complexity and size, and the sheer importance that this location had in defining the Gulf War would make it an ideal choice for representation in next year’s release.
Finally, the city of Khafji was a point of major conflict in the Gulf War that would have to be represented in some form in2024’sCoD. A dense coastal city with bustling greenery, Khafji is a striking Saudi Arabian location that changed hands many times throughout the war, and this is something that Treyarch should recognize the importance of if it is going to accurately portray the conflict next year.
