The most recentSly Coopergame wasThieves in Time, which was released in 2013 for the PS3. The franchise hasn’t seen a new entry since then, leaving the PS4 console generation without its own newSly Coopergame. Of course, the developer traditionally behind theSly Coopergames, Sucker Punch Productions, has been working on different games, namelyInfamous: Second Sonand thecritically acclaimedGhost of Tsushima.
It’s unclear which studio will develop the newSly Coopergame if the leak is accurate.Sly Cooper: Thieves in Timewas developed by Sanzaru games, which previously helped developThe Sly Collection. It’s possible that the studio returns to work on yet another entry in the franchise, though there are a lot of possibilities as far as what could be in the works, and a lot of it depends on how Sony wants to handle the return.
It’s possible that the originalSly Coopergame gets the remake treatment, similar to what happened withRatchet and Clank. If so, a remake could be handled by BluePoint Games. After all,Sony acquired Bluepoint Gamesofficially recently, following the studio handling the high-profileDemon’s Soulsremake, as well as several others. It would be a good fit for the studio, but the developer is also said to be working on an original game rather than a remake.
Of course, it’s important to take all of this information with a grain of salt for now. WhileSly Cooperis one of the most importantPlayStation charactersout there, it’s not safe to bet on anything until the game is officially announced.
ASly Coopergame is rumored to be in development.
