Summary

Jujutsu Kaisen’ssecond season has been electrifying, to say the least, specifically themuch-anticipated Shibuya Arc. Boasting many memorable battles, cursed techniques, and general unhinged and thrilling chaos, the season has outdone whatever was done in its first season.

However, within its rollercoaster storyline, critical incidents remain left to speculation and have taken on a mysterious veil regardingsome of the show’s charactersand events. Leaving the fans wondering and pondering, these events pose a necessary gap in the series' knowledge that will only be satisfied as the story progresses. Below, however, are some of the show’s biggest unanswered questions.

Psuedo-Geto and Gojo

6Will It Be Too Late When Gojo Return?

Gojo’s absence will make or break the clash with the Cursed Spirits

The sealing of Satoru Gojo earlier in the season surprised all involved, including Gojo himself, and it no doubt leaves a big gap between the Jujutsu sorcerers and the Cursed Spirits. The situation at Shibuya has looked even more bleakfor the Jujutsu sorcererssince Sukuna’s awakening and his disastrous battles with Jogo and Mahoraga.

Though Gojo is only trapped within the Prison Realm, it is inferrable for fans to assume from the words and actions of Pseudo-Geto that Gojo’s sealing will sufficiently provide the time needed for the Cursed spirits' objectives. With each episode, this assumption is proving to be true. Although it looks like Psuedo-Geto’s plan is moving accordingly, only the story’s progression will reveal whether Gojo will return just in the nick of time or his return will meet no meaning.

5The Implication of Yuji and Choso’s Battle

The Jujutsu Sorcerers May Have Gained Themselves An Unwilling Ally

The battle between Yuji and Choso had all the elements of a great fight. The tension, emotions, and, most of all, the fighting prowess of both characters, although much of the battle was Yuuji getting beat. However, a more surprising fact is what happens after Choso defeats Yuuji, leaving him almost dead. Choso is shown to be in great pain as an image supposed to flash across in his mind shows him,Yuji, and all his other brotherseating at a table in a happy mood.

With no further context or scene to give the image an added meaning, those images raised more than a few brows because the only rational implication of it would be that Yuji is mysteriously one of his brothers. However, more information on their relationship is needed to conclude how that would be possible. However, it remains to be seen if what Choso saw and felt was only a hallucination of his mind or if there’s more to Yuji than the story is currently letting on.

4Did Maki Die?

The Beginning of the Fall of the Ze’nin Clan

Following their arduous battle against Dagon, the quad of Megumi, Nanami, Maki, and Naobito could only be relieved briefly since Jogo appeared immediately after to avenge his fellow Cursed spirit. The aftermath of his act of vengeance, however, is what raises a few brows. Megumi and Toji mysteriously disappear from their midst, and Jogo effortlessly turns all three remaining into crisps of burnt flesh. Still, given Maki’s physical prowess, it’s only logical that fans assume she may not have died.

However, Naobito died, and Nanami, although he survived, was already on the verge of death. This leaves Maki, who, after the encounter with Jogo, is not only not shown to move from where she falls but has yet to make any appearances since the meeting with Jogo. It may be far-fetched, but the incidents surrounding Maki Zen’in will only come to light as the plot unfolds.

3Why Did Sukuna save Megumi against Mahoraga?

The Most Crucial Element

Since the first encounterbetween Megumi and Sukunain the series' first season, the former, for an unknown reason, has seemingly piqued the interest of the latter as Sukuna is seen referring to Megumi’s use of his Ten Shadows Technique as a waste of potential and spurring him to be more imaginative in his use of the technique.

Sukuna’s interest in Megumi seems to have grown even more as Sukuna heals and prevents Megumi from dying after Megumi activates the ritual of the Tenth Shadow in a bid to kill off Shigemo. Given the sadistic and self-serving nature of the King Of Curses, his decision to save Megumi was a surprise. Although it is evident that Sukuna’s end goal with Megumi is only for his benefit, it still raises speculation about the reason for that and how sinister it might be.

Jujutsu Kaisen Yuji Black Flash

2Can Yuji Consciously Use Black Flash?

An Unprecedented Phenomenon

Despite being a technique anyone sorcerer or cursed spirit can use,the Black Flash techniqueis impossible for any sorcerer to use consciously, even at their peaks. However, following the series' latest episode, Yuji may have debunked that theory. The battle between the Special Grade Mahito, Todo, and Yuji saw all three function at the peak of their latent potential, drawing out over a hundred percent of their abilities. However, the battle’s most pulsating and surprising fact was the consistency with which the trio used the Black Flash technique, especially Yuji and Mahito.

Mahito’s frequent use of the technique could be attributed to his rapidly growing inspiration during the battle. This fact was reinforced by his achieving a final form for a Cursed Spirit, so it is inferrable that Mahito was just in a flow state. On the other hand, Yuji wielded the technique as if it was one he created, with an instance of it being the moment right before their final battle sequence, where Mahito flinches and takes a step back right before Yuji decides to strike. Another is the final blow that leaves Mahito near the end of his life.

Kenjaku Absorbs Mahito Jujutsu Kaisen Shibuya Incident

1Kenjaku’s objective for Shibuya

Jujutsu’s Final Resting Place

While the much-anticipated Shibuya Incident is finally in motion, the actual objective that led to it has yet to be revealed by the mastermind, Pseudo-Geto, known as Kenjaku. Being the brain behind theSpecial-Grade Cursed Spiritsand the capture of Gojo Satoru, Kenjaku has yet to reveal the end point of all the chaos he has ensured in Shibuya. This raises more than a few eyebrows as he does not mention any grand plan at any point in time, not even to Mahito.

While he has shown signs of not being in alignment with the Special Grades and having other motives, specifically his comment on Mahito following the battle against Mechamaru, Kenkaju has shown signs of being much more intelligent than he lets on. Having achieved his objectives of sealing Gojo, awakening Sukuna, and throwing all of Shibuya into chaos, it is inferrable that Kenjaku is only still at the beginning of his grand plan, but whatever that plan is will only be revealed as the story further unfolds.
