Summary
FromSoftwaremay be working on another robot game, a recently surfaced job listing suggests. While the unannounced project could be another entry inFromSoftware’sArmored Coreseries, that’s far from the only possible interpretation of this newly emerged information.
The Japanese studio’s latest release debuted on June 21 in the form of thecritically acclaimedShadow of the Erdtreeexpansion forElden Ring. Although a portion of FromSoftware’s 400-strong workforce is still in the process of supporting the DLC with patches, the company is also believed to be working on several unannounced projects right now, based on recent industry insider reports.

FromSoftware Is Hiring a Robot Modeler
One of those undertakings may have something to do with theArmored Coreseries, as indicated by a recently emerged job ad on FromSoftware’s career pages. The listing, first spotted by Tech4Gamers forum usercindiestarlight, describes an opening for a character modeler whose responsibilities would include modeling, texturing, rigging, and animating “characters or robots.” With mechs being the defining element of theArmored Corefranchise, the ad could very well have something to do with the company’s long-running mecha series.
A New Armored Core Game Might Already Be on the Cards
If that were indeed the case, there are several distinct possibilities for what FromSoftware could be working on next. One, the ad might be hinting at another entry in the franchise, be that a new mainline installment or a more iterative sequel in the vein ofFor AnswerandVerdict Day, which served as near-immediate follow-ups toAC4andAC5, respectively. FromSoftware President Hidetaka Miyazaki has himself recentlysaid that he’s eager to make moreArmored Coregames, although he hasn’t specified how soon he’s hoping to tackle another such project.
FromSoftware May Also Be Working on Armored Core 6 DLC
Aside from a new game, the listing could also hint atArmored Core 6DLC. While the latest mainline entry will soon celebrate its first anniversary, FromSoftware hasn’t shied away from taking its time with DLCs in the past. The latest example of that practice isShadow of the Erdtree, which hit the market nearly two and a half years afterElden Ring. This possibility was already raised in September 2023, when Twitter user ZullieTheWitch datamined several references to “DLC parts,” “emblems,” and “data” fromArmored Core 6.
Thirdly, there’s a chance that the studio is developing a brand-new robot game, not least because of its tendency to experiment with fresh IPs and one late 2023 report claiming thatFromSoftware is presently working on multiple new projects. Seeing how the Japanese company historically never went too long between releasing a new game or DLC and announcing its next undertaking, it’s plausible that it will reveal what’s next on its plate in the near future, possibly before the end of 2024.
