Summary
A talentedPokemonfan has shared a series of fan art in which they made fusions of several Legendary Pokemon. Legendary Pokemon are among the most powerful critters in thePokemonfranchise. Their imposing nature is in their power, stories, and appearance.
It all started with Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos in Gen 1, introducing fans to the trio known as Legendary Birds. These Pokemon distinguished themselves by controlling the elements, with Articuno mastering ice, Moltres fire, and Zapdos electricity.Pokemon Black and Whitelater featured Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus, the Legendaries of the Unova region. They are muscular humanoid Pokemon similar to a genie, which is referred to by their nickname (Legendary Genies). For many years, the group consisted of three Pokemon, untilPokemon Legends: Arceusfeatured Enamorus.
Reddit user Mindrawz fused the Legendary Pokemon from Gen 1 and 5, obtaining an impressive result. Tornadus Moltres is a Fire/Flying-type with the colors and tail of Tornadus, and the body of Moltres. The result is a black and green plumage, with a shiny version whose colors are reminiscent of another Legendary Pokemon, Ho-Oh. Landorus Zapdos is a Ground/Electric-type with the form of Landorus and Zapdos details such as wings, head, and legs. Thundurus Articuno is an elegant Ice/Electric-type, with arms instead of wings, the tail and colors of Thundurus, and Articuno’s head. It’s worth noting that the fusions made by the artist are based on the Therian Formes of the Gen 5 Legendaries, presented byPokemon Sword and Shield’s DLC Crown Tundra.
In the comments on the post, otherPokemonfans praised the fusions shared by Mindrawz. In response to one of the Redditors, they revealed that another inspiration for the fusions was the Galarian forms of Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos. Introduced by the Crown Tundra DLC, theGalarian birds are quite different from the Kantonian trioin appearance and type. A second Redditor said that Zapdos looked like a “centaur bird.” The artist replied that it was a difficult design choice as it was very different from the base forms of Zapdos and Landorus, but that they liked the idea too much not to explore it.
Fusing critters is a popular concept amongPokemonfans, who oftencombine Pokemon with creative results. The Kanto and Unova Legendaries are not present in thePokemon Scarlet and VioletPokedex, but Gen 9 kept up the tradition by introducing a new group of powerful Pokemon. Paldea has a quartet of Legendary Pokemon, which are Ting-Lu, Chien-Pao, Wo-Chien, and Chi-Yu. The group expands thePokemonmythology by adding new stories and neat references to Japanese and Chinese mythology.
