The game is likely to receive a good portion of new players. But before they start, players might want to know how long it will take to color inChicory’s world.

Chicory: A Colorful Tale’s Structure

While it definitely puts its own very colorful spin on it,Chicory: A Colorful Taleis inspired by classic 2DZeldagames. Players will go back and forth between exploring an overworld, completing puzzle-based dungeons, and using the upgrade found in that dungeon to further explore the overworld, eventually finding the next dungeon.

How Long to Beat Chicory

If completing these beats are all the player cares about, thenplayers are likely to beatChicoryin about 8 hours, maybe even faster if they rush through dialogue and cutscenes. But that isn’t the way thatChicory: A Colorful Talewants to be played. Like any goodZeldagame, there’s a lot to find off the beaten path.

Chicory: A Colorful Tale’s Side Content

It’s arguable thatChicory: A Colorful Talehas more in its side content than it does in its main questline. There are multiple types of collectibles in the game, such as clothes, brushes, stamps, and more. There’s enough hidden in this game thatChicory’s developers designed the map to keep track of the player’s collection and discoveries.

The game’s cast is vibrant, and players will find themselves seeking out everyone, not just for possible sidequests but just to hear about their day-to-day lives. The player will find themselves painting murals, designing logos, taking art classes, delivering packages, and going on photo hunts, all to see the denizens ofChicory’s world smile.

If the player goes for a full completionist run, then they’re likely to play for about 20 hours. It might be even longer if they take the time to paint and decorate every screen, which isn’t an unlikely prospect considering how satisfying painting can feel.

Chicory: A Colorful Taleis available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and PS5.
