Horizon Forbidden Westwidened the scope of tribes in Aloy’s world, showcasing the Tenakth and Quen as players journey into the Forbidden West to restore GAIA and save the biosphere. WhileHorizon Forbidden Westexpands upon the Oseram tribe, first at Chainscrape and then through salvage contractors and others who are present in the West, their homeland of The Claim remains unexplored. With the information in both games, a sequel would do well to explore this territory.

The Oseram are sturdy, strong, and boisterous people skilled with technology and metals. This is prominently displayed in their craftsmanship and weaponry, which generally surpasses that of the other tribes. Whilethe Carjaare known for their outstanding architecture and settlements, the Oseram culture is usually made up of villages that feature an ealdorman as a sort of governor. They are often called tinkers by the other tribes, as the Oseram are unafraid of delving into Old World ruins to discover, create, or recreate technology.

Oseram Craftsmanship in Horizon

Craftsmanship takes center stage in Oseram culture, with most villages or settlements featuring a forge which is the center of their commerce. While the Oseram uses the various machines and machine parts from their hunts, the Oseramare also known to make their alloys, which factors into the cornerstone of forging and metalwork they’re infamous for. Their weapons and armor are top-notch and have factored into recent events in the games, such as the Oseram Cannon, which was used in the Liberation of Meridian to overthrow the Mad Sun King, Jiran.

Throughout theHorizongames, many Oseram characters reveal their interest in tinkering, delving, and creating technology, armor, or weapons. These can be found in sonic devices, underwater breathing apparatuses, recording devices, and even discovering and utilizing old radio signals from the Old World. The Oseram are known never to waste machines or technology, always finding some use for the objects.

Oseram Craftsmanship Warrants a Visit to The Claim in a Sequel

While the end ofHorizon Forbidden Westdoes create a reason to explore The Claim, as Erend heads there to warn his tribe about Nemesis, it’s the fact that the Oseram are so technologically advanced that genuinely warrants the visit. With Nemesis being the combined consciousness of allFar Zenith on Sirius, with all their knowledge, understanding, passions, and prejudices, the threat of this angry, conscious AI is no small matter.

The fact that Nemesis was able to break free, mass-produce machines, wipe out the Sirius Colony in hours, send an extinction signal to GAIA Prime, and pursue the survivors across the stars, means that the battles ahead are going to be hard fought, with victory uncertain. To combat the possible machines and threatsNemesis can throw at Aloy, her allies, and the tribes of Earth, it’s more than feasible that the heroes will need the advanced technology the Oseram can provide for offensive and defensive measures.

This would provide an excellent reason to visit The Claim itself, not just to showcase the territory but to highlight the full power of the Oseram as the very best smiths and engineers that theHorizonworld can muster. Narratively, it would make sense to see Aloy visit Erend in The Claim. This would not only be for tribal unification, but with rediscovered Old World technology and Far Zenith resources at Aloy’s disposal, it would give players a firsthand experience in seeing what new gadgets theOseram create to thwart the threat of Nemesis.
