Hogwarts Legacyis where players can explore new areas, raid camps, and solve various puzzles to earn rewards. One of those puzzles is the Merlin Trials, which are created by the legendary Wizard Merlin to distract his fellow Slytherin schoolmates.
The Trials are distributed throughout the Regions of the Hogwarts Realm. Locating them can be tiresome, as they won’t appear on the map unless players have come across them before during their exploration. Furthermore, solving the various Merlin Trials requires specific Spells and techniques for each one of them. Therefore, players should come prepared to face whatever challenges these Trials may throw at them inHogwarts Legacy.

Updated on July 13, 2025, by Nahda Nabiilah:While solving Merlin Trials withinany Region in Hogwarts Legacy, players are forced to use certain Spells like Confringo, Reparo, Lumos, and so on. Not all of these incantations are handed to players on a silver platter, as they have to complete certain Quests to learn new Spells. Luckily, the missions aren’t difficult and won’t require much effort from Students. Most of these Spells are rewarded upon finishing various of Hogwarts Professors' Assignments, which are triggered after finishing a Main Quest in Hogwarts Legacy.
All Hogwarts Valley Merlin Trials In Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Valley has 16 Merlin Trials that can be solved in any desired order. The 16 Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Valley are:
Merlin Trial #1 - Stone Sphere Puzzle
Teleport to The Mine’s EyesFloo Flame inHogwarts Legacy, and head west to locate the first Merlin Trial in Hogwarts Valley. To solve it, cast Revelio to locate the sphere location, then useWingardium LeviosaorDepulsoto get it inside the pit.
Merlin Trial #2 - Brazier Puzzle
The second Merlin Trial in Hogwarts Valley is found south of The Mine’s Eyes Floo Flame. Solving this puzzle requires igniting three Braziers with theConfringoSpell inHogwarts Legacy. Use Revelio to easily locate the Braziers. From the Merlin altar, it’s possible to find a pillar northwest, southwest, and northeast.
Merlin Trial #3 - Broken Statue Puzzle
The third Merlin Trial is northwest of the Northern South Sea Bog Floo Flame. The Trial is located inside an enemy camp, so players should clear it out first. To solve it, locate three broken statues and castReparoto fix them. The statues can be found:
Merlin Trial #4 - Stone Sphere Puzzle
The fourth Merlin Trial is north of the Keenbridge Floo Flame. To solve this Trial, players must cast the Wingardium Leviosa Spell on the sphere behind the Hamlet shop and guide it into the pit across the bridge.
Merlin Trial #5 - Firefly Puzzle
The fifth Merlin Trial location is northwest of the Keenbridge Hamlet. This Trial has three Moonstone pillars that need fireflies to light up. Guiding the three swarms of fireflies can be done with theLumosSpell inHogwarts Legacy.

Merlin Trial #6 - Orbs Pillars Puzzle
The sixth Merlin Trial in Hogwarts Valley is northwest of the Keenbridge Floo Flame. It is located in anabandoned castle that is swarmed with Ashwinders. By defeating the enemies, players will be able to break the nine orbs within the castle walls and solve this Merlin Trial. Use the Confringo Spell to destroy the orbs from a distance, and cast Revelio to easily locate them.
Merlin Trial #7 - Orbs Platforms Puzzle
Head east from the West Hogwarts Valley Floo Flame to arrive at the seventh Merlin Trial. This Trial is also in the middle of a Loyalists' camp that needs to be cleared out.The puzzle requires finding the orbsand luring them back to the three platforms. To do so, players must cast the Wingardium Leviosa Spell inHogwarts Legacy.

Merlin Trial #8 - Orbs Pillars Puzzle
Head south from the Lower Hogsfield Floo Flame to find the eighth Merlin Trial in Hogwarts Valley. Players have to break nine orbs with the Confringo Spell inHogwarts Legacyto complete the Trial. Since the orbs are distributed around the altar, they can easily be highlighted with the Revelio Spell.
Merlin Trial #9 - Orbs Platforms Puzzle
Go northwest from the West Hogwarts Valley Floo Flame to locate the ninth Merlin Trial in Hogwarts Valley. It is all the way up the mountains of the Valley, right next to theFeldcroft Region inHogwarts Legacy. To solve this puzzle, players must find the three platforms and their orbs. Next, they need to cast Wingardium Leviosa to lure the latter to the former.
