Bandai Namco and FromSoftware releasedElden Ringlast month and players continue to lose runes from untimely deaths, discover hidden details in the Lands Between, and follow the ghosts of other players to their death. OneElden Ringfan recently captured a moment where they died in an elevator shaft alongside a ghost when attempting to go through a wall.

Reddit user ShinichiR posted anElden Ringclip in which they’re taking one of the elevators in Volcano Manor, and they strike at a wall halfway down the shaft to attempt to access a concealed area. TheElden Ringplayer hits the brick wall with theirTwinbladeto no avail and continues to attack as it reaches the bottom level. Just as the elevator starts to rise again after a brief pause, anotherElden Ringplayer’s ghost spawns next to ShinichiR, and they both attempt to try the same trick but are killed in the exact same way.

ShinichiR’s clip shows a scene that may be familiar to many FromSoftware fans because when the two players reach the floor that they originally intended to get off the elevator at, they both take one step off the lift and fall through a small gap as the elevator continues to rise.Elden Ringplayers are typically able to access a hidden room at the midway point of this Volcano Manor elevator shaft, but the players are unable to enter it. ShinichiR’s video concludes with theElden Ringplayer and their ghost companion falling three floors down and dying from thefall damageright next to each other.

While these twoElden Ringplayers are shown falling to their death at the same spot of the Volcano Manor elevator ride, it’s likely that if they timed their movements more precisely rather than auto running, they may have ended up in the hidden room.FromSoftwareis known for punishing players for not paying attention in games likeBloodborne,Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, andDark Souls, and like in ShinichiR’s clip, this sometimes carries over to other things beyond powerful enemies. ManyElden Ringfans have noted that they have also died on the exact same elevator, suggesting that it’s killing as if it was one of the several bosses in the game.

Because this room inVolcano Manoris an optional part ofElden Ring, some players may have been perplexed by a ghost falling to their death on the same elevator like the one in ShinichiR’s video. FromSoftware games are no strangers to elevators that kill players, withBloodbornehaving lots of similar lift issues. Although this problem has transferred over from previous FromSoftware titles, it’s currently unclear if it’s something that can be fixed through a future update or if players will have to hope for a fix in future games from the developer.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
