After rumors circulated for months regarding a remaster ofGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, Rockstar Games finally officially announced theDefinitive Editionearlier this month. Featuring updates like improved graphics, frame rates, and updated controls,Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Editionlooks to bring the classic games to modern consoles while making them more palatable for contemporary audiences.

Earlier this week, Rockstar revealed the first real footage of theGTA TrilogyDefinitive Edition, showing off a few snippets of gameplay and finally giving gamers a glimpse of what the teased graphical updates would be. With added volumetric lighting, updated character models, and much-improved resolution, theDefinitive Editioncertainly cleans up theGTA Trilogywhile keeping its iconic style mostly intact. The release of the new trailer and its displayed graphical changes had fans wondering what sort of PC components would be required to run the title, and now thanks to a listing on Rockstar Games’ store page, players have that info.

The official webpage for theGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Editionhas the minimum specs listed as follows: A Windows 10 operating system, an i5-6600K or FX-6300 for a CPU, 8GB of RAM, A GTX 780 2GB or R9 280 3Gb for a GPU, and about 45GBs of storage space. For recommended specifications, Rockstar lists an i7-2700K or Ryzen 5 2600 for the CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 970 4GB or RX 570 4GB for the GPU.

Reception to theDefinitive Editiontrailer and its required specifications on theGTA TrilogySubreddit has been mixed. Some fans believe that the displayed graphical updates in the trailer don’t justify the requirements, while others feel that the demanding specs are adequate given the new lighting and reflection enhancements.

Being thatGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Editionruns on Unreal Engine 4, these system requirements seem to be in line with other games that run on the technology. It can be hard to tell from a single trailer the true quality of the updated graphics, but there have certainly been big improvements in terms of lighting, draw distance, and reflections.

While many fans are understandably excited forGTA: The Trilogy Definitive Edition, others are waiting for Rockstar to finally make some sort of announcementregarding the much-anticipatedGrand Theft Auto 6.Grand Theft Auto 5is also seeing a re-release for next-gen consoles coming in 2022, so between that and theGTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, fans will at least have something to help hold them over until someGTA 6news finally manifests.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Editionlaunches digitally for the PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X on November 11. The physical edition is set to release on December 7th.
