GTA Onlineis no stranger to bugs and oddities, but one player’s image of an office on fire and its money burning up is leaving players scratching their heads. TheGTA Onlinescreenshot was shared with fellow fans looking for answers, but there’s yet to be a consensus on what caused it.
GTA Onlineintroduced CEO officesseveral years ago, introducing new missions to do, so long as the player can afford an office or plays with someone who has one. However, like with apartments, these offices are supposed to be a safe zone where no one can use weapons or be physically harmed. That’s what makes the screenshot so odd and questionable as to how it occurred.

Reddit user liamsjtaylor shared their screenshot with theGTA Onlinesubreddit, asking fans what their thoughts on the cause of the image might be. In it, the player character can be seen standing in the middle of a CEO office, with piles of money scattered all over the floor. Money gradually accumulates as players complete more missions and increase their earnings, but it serves no purpose beyond decoration. However, in liamsjtaylor’s image, the money and some of the other items in the room are on fire.
Since players can’t access their weapons ordinarily in these areas, players have been curious as to what caused the fire. Liamsjtaylor reportedly took the screenshot on an Xbox version of the game several years ago, so players were able to largely rule out the possibility of it being due toGTA Onlinehackers or mods, as there are far fewer instances of that on consoles than on the PC version.
Some commenters have suggested that the problem may have actually originated outdoors. In indoor areas like these, players are protected from being harmed by any attacks from outside. Normally, the attacks don’t even get through the walls and windows, but in some cases, players have been able to damage the interior or even shoot players, albeit without causing damage. Liamsjtaylor says that the fire was already blazing when they walked in, so it’s possible that someone was using something like theHydra’s weaponsto fire into the office, and managed to cause damage to the interior, even if players were flagged as immune.
