Summary
Polyphony Digital has just released the 1.46 April update forGran Turismo 7. The free update is headlined with three new cars, two of which debut all-new manufacturers forGran Turismo 7, alongside new Café menus, World Circuits events, and more.
Gran Turismo 7launched back in March 2022 to extensive critical acclaim. The hallmark PlayStation first-party racer was touted as a return to form for the franchise after 2017’s eSports-focusedGran Turismo Sport, and largely delivered on its promises. Ever since its launch,Gran Turismo 7has enjoyed a steady stream of free monthly content updates that add to its roster of cars, with new racetracks occasionally in the mix as well. The car list has grown from 420 at launch to over 500 with the 1.46 update, and Polyphony Digital remains committed to supporting the game, while alsodeveloping the next entry in theGran Turismofranchise.

TheGran Turismo 7April update adds two new manufacturers - Skoda and AFEELA. The latter is a collaboration between Sony and Honda to produce an electric car concept, simply dubbed the Prototype 2024. Meanwhile, Skoda makes its series-first debut inGran Turismo 7with the Skoda Vision Gran Turismo, joining the ranks of other manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Audi, Nissan, Porsche, and more with their own distinctive VGTs. Alongside the new brands, the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Sport Coupe is also included - a favorite among muscle car enthusiasts. While three cars may not sound like a lot, it’s worth noting thatmodeling oneGran Turismo 7car takes 270 days, so voluminous updates will be rare.
The update also adds three new World Circuits events: Japanese Clubman Cup 550: Alsace – Village Reverse, American FR Challenge 550: Trial Mountain Circuit Reverse, and Vision Gran Turismo Trophy: Grand Valley – Highway 1. A new Café menu book labeled Extra Menu No. 38: ‘Ferrari 12-Cylinder Engines’ (Collector Level 38 and above), featuring three iconic V12 Ferraris, is also included. Those who enjoy photographing cars inGran Turismo 7’s Scapes mode can now feature various spots from the city of San Diego as their backdrop. While the quantity of features is nowhere nearGran Turismo 7’s massive Spec 2 update last November, it’s fairly standard for a usual monthly update.
Gran Turismo 7is one of the best racers out there, and its continued flow of free updates is a breath of fresh air in an industry otherwise dominated by battle passes and paid seasons. Moreover,Gran Turismo 7’s free PSVR2 updatelast year dialed up the immersion to 11, making it one of the best showcases for the headset. Skoda’s long-awaited arrival into the franchise with the 1.46 update is also exciting, but some players wish it debuted with more road cars. Considering Polyphony Digital’s constant support forGran Turismo 7, though, more Skodas will inevitably make it into the game.
