It’s taken a while, but this week saw Sony finally revealwhat PlayStation 5 game cases will look like, with a little help fromMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Now, just one day later, Gearbox has followed suit with the unveiling of the box art for Counterplay Games’ upcoming “looter slasher,”Godfall.
The past month has provided more sneak peeks of the game than ever before. After offering closer looks at the Valorplate armor sets that players will don, Gearbox and Counterplay followed up with full-ongameplay trailers highlightingGodfall’s melee-centric combatand vibrant fantasy epic world.

That fantasy setting is on full display in its box art, which Counterplay dropped on the officialGodfallTwitter page this afternoon, as a way to wish fans a great weekend. Many will likely find the art familiar, since it was featured at the end of both of the gameplay trailers from last month, depictingthree types of Valorian Knightsas they stand before a colossal floating tower seemingly disappearing into the sky in the background.
It’s evocative of thebox art for the originalDestiny, which is fitting given howGodfalllooks set to fill a similar loot-based niche. But whereasDestiny’s art stuck to a fairly muted color scheme, here the artwork is as vibrant as the rest of the game. Everything pops, allowing the details of the Knights’ armor to contrast nicely against the pink, white, and blue of the cloudy sky beyond.
It even contrasts well with the box’s banner, which has been a subject of debate among gamers this week. For many, thePS5 game box’s banner is too simple, with its plain white background and black logo coming off as almost bland, especially when contrasted against the black and dark grey ofSpider-Man: Miles Morales' box art.
AgainstGodfall’s brighter colors, however, it arguably fits better, and the art even does a better job of highlighting the thin blue line running along the banner’s bottom that provides it with a helpful splash of color. The rest ofGodfall’s burgeoning fanbase seems to agree, as the replies in Counterplay’s Twitter post are almost unanimous in praising the box art, with many even expressing how hyped they are for the game as a result.
