Upon his first and last scene, Heimdall has a talent for being an utter jerk. Heimdall threatens and belittles Atreus throughout the game, and wastes no time in provoking Kratos. The reason being is that Heimdall can see everything, and knows everything about the person he is with. Therefore, he considers himself indestructible because he cannot be hit.

The worst thing someone can do to Kratos is to threaten his son. As the Norns inform Kratos that Heimdall intends to kill Atreus, Kratos enlists help to form the Draupnir Spear, a weapon of unpredictability to help defeat Heimdall. 6Nidhogg

Nidhogg’s role is to protect Yggdrasil’s roots. In doing so, Nidhogg keeps balance in the world tree and continues the cycle of the universe. However, Odin, being the ever-cunning and diabolically selfish god, knows that Nidhogg will do anything to protect these roots. Odin trapped the spell that binds Freya to Midgard within these roots.

To untangle the roots and allow Freya to be free from Odin’s spell, Kratos had to battle Nidhogg. The mystical dragon would not quit, even in Freya’s freedom, so the duo had no choice but to kill Nidhogg, ending yet another Norse Mythology beast.
