God of Waris one of the best games on PS4, and it has since become one of the best games on PC, too. Part of it comes from developer Jetpack Interactive’s continuous effort to deliver a great port while being supervised by Santa Monica Studio. The studio recently released patch 1.0.9 for the PC version ofGod of War, and while the latest update is mainly targeted to improve performance, it also brings subtle changes to the gameplay aspect.

Ever since its release on January 14th,God of Warhas seen quite a success on PC. Itgrabbed the top-selling spot on Steamin just a few days after launching, and it stayed there for around three weeks. It’s reportedly the highest-selling PlayStation game on PC, with reviews on Steam showing an even more positive feeling than whatHorizon Zero DawnandDays Gonewere getting previously.

With patch 1.0.9,God of Waron PCis poised to become even better than ever. In terms of performance, new features such as triple buffering can now be enabled to help reduce micro-stutters, but at the cost of a minor latency increase, as listed in the patch notes. To help players in troubleshooting performance, the video settings can now display GPU memory usage.

Other fixes include proper detection of memory values when using integrated graphics, and implementation of small object culling to help reduce the number of objects being processed by the CPU. This is said to be developed in response to recurringperformance issues for AMD users, and that it should improve minimum framerates in scenes where there are many objects on-screen. The game is also now less prone to random crashes.

But what’s more interesting is a new feature that will subtly affect players' playstyle, which is button toggling. Instead of holding the button for aiming and blocking, players can now opt to configure them as a toggle. This is great news for players who often utilize range attacks when equipping theLeviathan Axe, as they no longer need to continuously hold Ctrl, which is the default button for aiming inGod of WarPC when using a mouse and a keyboard, or LT when using a controller.

This latest patch forGod of WarPC further proves Santa Monica Studio’s willingness to cater to PC users, as well as its effort to communicate about known issues and what players can expect next.God of Waris already a great experience on PC, but that doesn’t stop the developer from making it even greater, even if that means delivering minor fixes and features.
