Genshin Impactupdate 3.0 is fast approaching, and with it comes the all-new region of Sumeru. This area will feature brand new characters and a continuation of the game’s main storyline. However, it also has ties to some of the earlier characters of the game – namely, Lisa and Amber from Mondstadt.
Based on in-game lore as well as theGenshin Impactwebcomic, the two starter characters have some strong ties to Sumeru and its locals. Given this, many in the community are hoping that version 3.0 onwards will include new content for Lisa and Amber, whether it’s in the form of quests, events, or even new character skins.

Genshin Impact’s Lisa and the Sumeru Akademiya
Lisa ofGenshin Impactis one of the most powerful characters in Teyvat – at least, according to the lore. Before the events of the game, she was a student at the Sumeru Akademiya, where she was considered the best student of the last two centuries. While there, she learned about Elemental Reactions with local plant life as well as esoteric knowledge, unheard of by most commoners. However, she eventually left the Akademiya after witnessing the “raving-mad” scholars and the “underutilized” sages of Sumeru’s advisory councils.
Given that Lisa’s very much acquainted with the region of Sumeru, the Traveler could go to her to learn more about the new area. HoYoverse could easily slot her into a World Quest or even the continuing Archon Quest, where she’d interact with the newGenshin Impactcharacters like Tighnariand Alhaitham. She may even know about the Dendro Archon Kusanali or her predecessor, the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. If Lisa isn’t part of the Sumeru arc, players are hoping for a new character skin at the very least, showcasing Lisa in her old Akademiya uniform.
Genshin Impact’s Amber and Her Connection to Collei
Amber and Collei have a long history as shown bytheGenshin Impactmanga. Collei was deemed a sick child and was the subject of inhuman experiments at the hands of the Harbinger Dottore. Later in the comic, she then travels to Mondstadt in search of a cure for her strange illness and bumps into Amber. At first, Collei finds Amber’s cheery attitude irritating, but she soon warms to the young Outrider. However, by the end of the webcomic, Collei leaves Mondstadt with Cyno, heading to Sumeru.
The introduction of Sumeru in the game world ofGenshin Impactis an excellent opportunity to have Amber and Collei reunite. It could potentially be a part of the Archon Questline since Dottore is hinted to be a major antagonist in the Sumeru arc. If that’s not the case, then Amber and Collei could meet in a Story Quest. The quest could even involve Cyno and Tighnari, both of whom have established professional relationships with Collei. And like with Lisa, players are hoping to see a character skin for Amber, maybe her alternative outfit fromtheGenshin Impactwebcomic.
Overall, there’s so much potential to incorporate Lisa, Amber, and perhaps even otherGenshin ImpactMondstadt charactersin the Sumeru story arc. These characters have strong ties to the foreign region and could contribute to an interesting narrative. Moreover, the Mondstadt-based characters have been largely forgotten since the release of Inazuma, so it’d be nice to have them incorporated into the new mainline content. That said, the community will have to wait and see what HoYoverse has planned forGenshin Impact3.0 onwards. Hopefully, the main story does justice to the game’s many characters.
