Genshin Impact’s players usually look forward to new updates for loads of new features and events, yet one feature seems to not receive as much hype compared to the others. Despite their intricate, breathtaking designs,Genshin Impact’s Normal Bosses aren’t really admired by the players. Not to get confused with Weekly Bosses found in Trounce Domains like Childe in the Golden House and La Signora in Tenshukaku, Normal Bosses are the powerful mobs found all over Teyvat, such as the seven Hypostases and three Regisvines. Nowadays, whenever a new boss is introduced in a newGenshin Impactupdate, fans aren’t typically excited for them, and it might be due to a variety of reasons.
The essential function of Normal Bosses is to provide materials for ascending low-leveled characters. EachNormal Boss drops their exclusive Character Level-Up Material(such as the Marionette Core from Maguu Kenki) and also one or more Character Ascension Materials (the elemental gemstones and their subforms). Overall, normal bosses serve their purpose competently, costing only 40 resin to collect drops. Initially, fighting Normal Bosses for the first few times was amusing, but after battling them many times, it begins to feel more of a chore than a challenge. As such, HoYoverse should consider halting the addition of Normal Bosses in future updates until a new region releases.

The Issues With the Current Roster of Normal Bosses
Normal Bosses have become less special and valuable in the eyes of the players, mostly because there’s so many of them.Currently, there are 23 Normal Bossesspread around the four accessible nations, and each boss drops materials for specific characters. However, one issue is that some bosses drop materials for more characters compared to others. For instance, the Pyro Regisvine, one of the original Normal Bosses, drops the Everflame Seed, a Character Level-Up Material used for six characters. Meanwhile, the Jadeplume Terrorshroom, one of Sumeru’s Normal Bosses, only drops Character Level-Up Materials for only two characters.
Hoyoverse also keeps on adding new Normal Bosses into the game for new Character Level-Up Materials for new characters, which is problematic because new Normal Bosses are usually locked behind exploration in later game content, making it harder for low-level players to fight them and access drops for specific characters. For instance, theIniquitous Baptist- the brand-new boss introduced in Version 3.6 - is found in the northwestern part of Sumeru’s desert, and earlier-game players won’t have access to the battle nor its drops for new characters. Some Normal Bosses are locked deep in locations only accessible through playing World Quests, such as the Coral Defenders in Enkanomiya and the Ruin Serpent in The Chasm.

How to Make Normal Bosses Feel Better in Future Updates
Hoyoverse should focus less on adding new bosses intoGenshin Impactand prioritize on using the existing ones. Some of the new characters should require materials from the already existing roster of Normal Bosses. There are 12 Normal Bosses that only drop materials for two characters each, such as the Cryo Hypostasis and Thunder Manifestation, so assigning upcoming characters to the already existing ones should be more convenient for early-game players. It’s possible thatfutureGenshin Impactcharacterscould have their materials come from bosses from their respective same nation, such as a new Cryo Mondstadt character utilizing drops from the Cryo Hypostasis.
As Normal Bosses become less significant once players gathered enough materials to ascend their characters to level 80 or 90, Hoyoverse should improve them. Normal Bosses drop a variety of materials and rewards such as Mora, experience, and artifacts, but the rewards aren’t really worth the resin. Normal Bosses drop two of the most basic 5-star artifacts sets in the game, Gladiator’s Finale and Wanderer’s Troupe. Hoyoverse should upgrade Normal Bosses drop rewards, adding artifacts found in the domains of their region and also maybe adding Weapon Ascension Materials as well. Ultimately,Genshin Impactneed to slow down on adding new bosses and recognize the existing ones, although with thenew region Fontaine coming soon, more bosses are definitely in development.
