The latest Archon Quest added toGenshin Impactlate last month might have shed new light on some old dialogue from“A Winter Night’s Lazzo” teaserthat HoYoverse released back in July. The dialogue in question was a brief exchange between two Fatui Harbingers, Il Capitano and Il Dottore—also known as The Captain and The Doctor, respectively—concerning the Harbinger Scaramouche.
The Archon quests cover the ongoing main story ofGenshin Impactwhich revolves around the protagonist’s search for their lost sibling across the continent of Teyvat. Developer HoYoverse last expanded on this storyline with two new quests released in late September as part of version 3.1 update,King Deshret and the Three Magi. The military nation of Fatui acted as the game’s main antagonist ever sinceGenshin Impactdebuted two years ago.

Among other things, the July teaser had a scene in which Il Capitano asked Il Dottore about the “Gnosis from Inazuma” and Scaramouche, the sixth ofthe eleven Fatui Harbingers. As one observant fan noted on Reddit, the line originally implied that the villain was inquiring about the Harbinger’s literal whereabouts, as well as the quest to retrieve the Electro Gnosis. But following the developments from the fourth act of Archon Quest Chapter 3, it would appear that Il Capitano might have actually been looking for a status update on Scaramouche’s efforts to transform into a new god.
The lore behind Harbinger Scaramoucheis complicated, and this newest theory assumes that Il Capitano is aware of his quest to become a god. Whether that’s actually the case remains unclear, as the existingGenshin ImpactArchon quests have so far only confirmed that Il Dottore knows what’s been going on in the background. That said, the biggest clue suggesting Il Capitano is up to speed with the current plan is the fact that he directed his question at Il Dottore and not Childe, the Harbinger who was originally tasked with retrieving the Electro Gnosis.
More details on the matter should follow shortly, seeing howthe Scaramouche boss model leaked onlinejust a couple of days ago and considering how HoYoverse already established a track record of adding weekly boss domains to the game every other update. So, whether Scaramouche is next in line for that treatment or not, thisGenshin Impactfan theory is likely to be confirmed or dispelled in a matter of weeks.
Genshin Impactis available on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is currently in development.
