Meanwhile,Bungie is hiringan incubation multiplayer systems designer, presumably for a new project. While it could be to work onDestiny, the job listing does ask that applicants are comfortable prototyping new game ideas. Bungie wants to release a new IP by 2025, though it isn’t clear what that entails. With the job listing, it certainly seems like it will be focused on PvP.
Elsewhere,Amazon canceled theLord of the RingsMMO, though little was known about it in the first place. Currently, the company is working onNew Worlds,a different MMO, though this continues a rough streak for the company where video game development is concerned.
Plus, thePS3 and PS Vita stores aren’t shutting downafter all, with Sony pulling an about-face on the issue. And finally, Jeff Kaplan has left Blizzard after 19 years of working there, with fans left to speculate what it means forOverwatch 2and Blizzard at large. It doesn’t spell doom, but it’s an interesting shift considering recent change-ups implemented by Activision.
