One of the biggest factors in how well you’ll do in a match inFortniteis where you drop. The island map is huge, with plenty of places to explore. There are cities, mountains, beach towns, neighborhoods, swamps, woods, and more to discover when traveling through the map. However, there are specific spots that have much better loot than others.

And anyone who playsFortniteknows that the initial items a player finds can change the tides of the entire match. When gazing down at the free-for-all island from the floating battle bus, there are a fewspecific places to landthat have the best loot in the game.
10Slurpy Swamp
Landing at the Slurpy Swamp will guarantee finding some pretty good loot, with tons of treasure chests, materials to harvest, a boat on its shores, and a weapon upgrader in one of the buildings. Landing here usually requires some initial fighting for territory, as many people know this spot is full of good items. However, if a player can get this place to themselves, it’s a fantastic spot to prepare for the rest of the match. Plus, the waters in the swamp have slurp juice in them, which are great for filling up your blue health bar.
9The Yacht
The yacht, located north of the Steamy Stacks, is one of the most difficult places to land and is arguably the hardest spot to survive after a drop. There is tons of loot to find here, most of it being heavily guarded, strong weapons. The yacht is pretty small and confined, making it crucial to pick up the first weapon you see to avoid being killed in the first minute of landing. It’s a hard fight, especially when many people land there at the same time, but it can be a great place to start off a match.
8The Grotto
The Grotto lies on the edge of the island in between Retail Row and the Dirty Docks. This spot is overrun with henchmen and a mini-boss that can be avoided by putting on a disguise near one of the underground fortress’s entrances.

Popping in and out of the Grotto can be efficient enough when looking for great gear, though others prefer to stick around and defeat all the henchmen to load up on some pretty solid items. And don’t forget to open the treasure chest in the cliffside skull’s nose!
7Risky Reels
With tons of materials waiting to be harvested, a weapon upgrader, and plenty of treasure chests hidden across the area, the Risky Reels makes for a great spot to land when looking to load up on items right away. The drive-in theater, located near the center of the map close to the Frenzy Farm, has rows of cars with chests hidden in between them that are great for gathering lots of metal. Plus, the entire spot is surrounded by a thick fence, making it easy to spot any intruders since they typically will approach from one of the few open entrances.
6Weather Station
Dropping at the weather station on the snowy Mount Kay is never a bad idea. The three-story building that lies just down and west of the mountain’s peak has 4 treasure chests inside, plus 3 more chests surrounding it, and 2 more in the house next door! Dropping alone or with your team at this snowy weather station is sure to leave you with some good items and a helicopter to start off your match. Plus, the building is made of stone, metal, and wood so it’s a great spot to bulk up on materials.
5The Agency
In the very center of the map lies an island with a large building on itcalled the Agency. This place is filled to the brim with strong weapons, healing items, and other valuable loot.

Of course, all of the good stuff comes with a price, and that means many players tend to drop at the Agency at the same time, instantly resulting in turf wars over the fortress. Plus, with henchmen and turret guarded treasure troves, it’s no easy place to land and get out alive.
4Misty Meadows
This riverside town has plenty of buildings to explore through. It is split up into two sections by a bridge over a river, making it easy for multiple players or teams to scavenge at the same time. While the town itself is full of treasures to find, the small island off the northern shore has a Shadow henchman-filled building with some pretty strong weapons. Many players flock to this little island to take out the henchmen and take all the good weapons and materials inside.
3Dirty Docks
Located along the eastern shore, this place is great for those who like to fish for healing items. It has plenty of spots to hide, which is needed since the spot can get pretty crowded by those eager to take over the entire area. Be sure to check out each storage container, since chests lie inside many of them. There are so many materials to grab while you’re here, you really won’t have to worry about harvesting for the rest of the match afterward.
2Pleasant Park
Even dropping into a single house in this pleasant neighborhood is sure to leave you with some pretty good items. Lots of fights go down in this area since it is one of the oldest named spots on Fortnite’s maps, but staying until everyone else dies or leaves, or running in and out with a couple of good guns is always a good idea.

Landing on a building’s roof and breaking in from up top could save you an important few seconds when landing here alongside many other people.
1The Rig
The Rig, located at the southwest area of the island map, is intensely guarded by TNTina, an NPC who is pretty strong and tricky to beat. There are plenty of buildings to rummage through, with many different floors to search, that can leave you with some great weapons and items. Defeating the boss and entering the Rig’s Vault is great for those wanting to fully bulk up the first thing in each match.
