Fortnitehas been steadily evolving over the years, ever since its initial release. In the very first season ofFortnite, the game seemingly was absent of a story, as it was a simple battle-royale game. Epic Games has proved their players wrong though, as they introduced story-themed seasons, cutscenes, story-driven characters, and even live events in the growing world — or island — ofFortnite. The introduction of the Seven and the Imagined Order has givenFortnitea “foundational” plot of heroes and villains.

It does tend to get more complicated, as the IO may or may not have been a villain. There’s also otherworldly forces that have attacked the island, and then there’s the most important aspect ofFortnite’sisland; the Zero Point. The Zero Point is the source of energy of the island, and is the reason that so many crossover characters appear inFortnite. It’s capable of sending others to various realities. It’s one giant meta-verse. With that, the story ofFortniteproceeds to always protect that Zero Point, and keep it from taking out reality all together.

10The Meteor

In Chapter 1: Season 3 ofFortnite, players got their first look at the beginning of the game’s story. A meteor appeared in the sky, and it slowly got closer and closer, indicated an inevitable doom.

Eventually, with the start of Season 4, the meteor finally hit the island ifFortnite, destroying the beloved Dusty Depot, and partiallydestroying other locations on the map. This event led to the introduction of the entirety ofFortnite’sstory, practically making it the first landmark of the game.

9The Blast-Off Event

In Season 4, after the meteor’s destruction, the villain Omega was freed from his prison, and now hatching a plan to attack the island, or so players thought. Eventually, it was revealed that Omega and the entire hero/villain story was all for a movie that was being produced on the island. In doing so, they built a rocket, which was coincidentally functional.

From the meteor, came a person going by the name of The Visitor. Upon his introduction to the island, he uses the rocket to reach the Zero-Point, and ultimately leaving crack into the sky.

8Zero-Point’s Explosion

In Season X (10) ofFortnite, players began perceiving what seemed to be like an attack on the Zero Point. Rifts were appearing in the sky, and from the crack in the sky, the meteor from Season 3 appeared, but this time it was frozen in place. From the other rifts around the map, came rockets, which eventually supported the release of the meteor.

Ultimately, they all crashed into the Zero-Point, causing it to explode. Upon its explosion, a black hole was formed, and it absorbed every part of reality, remaining a black hole for two days in real-time. Eventually, the island was revived anew, completely changed.

7Midas' Failure

Midas was a part of Chapter 2, where he was working on a device to apparently stop the Storm. Stopping the Storm, would’ve led to the obstruction of The Loop itself, which is entirely what The Imagined Order is against. Midas eventually completed his device, and attempted to use it in the live-event, The Device.

As Midas tried to stop the Storm, players got a short glimpse into the Imagined Order, and a preview of Jonesy. It seems like Midas' device worked in clearing the Storm, but then it appears as a huge tsunami, taking out Midas and his Agency.

6The Fight Against Galactus

DuringFortnite’sNexus War Season, or the Marvel Season, Thor appeared on the island, with a warning that Galactus was coming toFortnite’sisland to devour it. With that, he brings many beloved Marvel characters to the island, in hopes they could all collectively stop Galactus.

In the end of the season, Galactus finally arrives to the island, and in this season’s live event, the player and the rest of the Marvel characters seen in this season work together to fight against Galactus. Eventually, The heroes win, but Galactus, in trying to devour the Zero-Point, has weakened it, causing it to be exposed.

5Jonesy’s Introduction

Jonesy has been teased through some past seasons, but in Chapter: 2 Season 5, Jonesy stands as the main character. He’s employed by the Imagined Order to gather the greatest bounty hunters in the multiverse using the Zero-Point. The point of the hunters were to stop anyone escaping in using the Zero-Point.

Soon, Jonesy realizes that the Imagined Order doesn’t care for the fact that the Zero-Point is going to explode again, so he takes matters into his own hands, askingthe Seven for help. This led to the Foundation’s sacrifice in stopping the Zero-Point from exploding, by withholding him and the Zero-Point within the Spire he created.

4IO’s Betrayal

Upon theisland’s invasion of aliens, the Chymera, players could find UFOs, alien-tech weapons, and even be abducted into the Mothership. In the story, the Imagined Order sought out to destroy the Mothership, in which everyone agreed on. This made the Imagined Order seem like they were on the good side for once.

After breaching the Mothership, players, and Jonesy, plant bombs around the ship, and eventually time it to explode. Slone, who’s from the IO, then says that they won’t risk bringing the players or Jonesy back, letting them explode with the Mothership. Fortunately, players and Jonesy were able to escape, but it’s revealed that Cubes are the real threat to the island.

Paradigm eventually finds herself back on the island, and after the revelation of a device being created by the IO, she works her mech back up, and uses it to perform a last stand against the Imagined Order.
