Fortnitehas significantly reduced the damage output of two items that have been around since the first Chapter of the game. Even thoughFortniteis no longer in early access and has officially been fully launched, it is still constantly being updated and receiving patches to keep the game as balanced, fair, and fun as possible for both casual and competitive players. Given the game’s popularity,Fortnite’s fanbase is huge, and, of course, not everyone will agree with some of the changes that are made.

When Epic Games introduced thenew Ranked system toFortnite, it also made some balance modifications. The material cap was changed from 999 to 500, but to make up for this, players would be able to harvest materials at a slightly faster rate and enemies would drop more materials upon being eliminated. Every day that goes by, Epic Games monitors how gameplay goes after certain changes, and it also takes into consideration player feedback. It seems that this time around, this has resulted in an unfortunate change for many.

In the most recent balance patch, Epic Games nerfed both theHeavy Sniperand grenades. The lowest rarity (Rare) Heavy Sniper now deals 150 damage to buildings instead of 600. The main issue for the majority of fans was the modification made to the grenade throwable item; instead of dealing 375 damage to structures, it now deals 75, and instead of dealing 100 damage to players, it deals 40.

There are severalvaluable items inFortnite, and even though not many players usually carry grenades with them, in the early game they were a pretty reliable item - high risk, high reward. Now, a player would have to hit an enemy with an entire stack of grenades to eliminate them before they consumed any shields, making them nearly useless at any point in the game.

This is just one of the many controversial changes that Epic Games has made toFortnite. Earlier this season, Epic made some modifications to twolate-gameFortniteStorm Circlesin order to prevent heal-offs, but instead, it mostly angered the community. Given the amount of healing and mobility items available inFortnite, making the storm move more often won’t stop gamers from healing instead of battling once they reach the top ten; it simply forces them to change positions right before building walls around them to block out enemy players. Hopefully, once Epic Games receives the feedback from fans, it will consider changing the grenades' stats back to how they were before.

Fortniteis available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
