For a while now, news aboutForspokenhas been light concerning its development, story, and overall gameplay. There was the extended cut trailer which showed a few extra scenes of gameplay with Frey, the main character. In a recent video, Aramaki spoke aboutForspoken’sgraphics and how the game will be made with AMD’s new FidelityFX Super Resolution technology or FSR. In the video, he stated that one of the developer’s goals is to makeForspokenhave the highest quality visuals that have ever been seen in an open world game. Some of the footage in the video is similar totheForspokenextended cut trailer. The video shows the game in action with familiar gameplay but it mainly focuses on the graphics.
Aramaki states early in the video that Luminous Productions' vision is to create video games “unlike anything experienced before” that fuse the best and latest technologies with art. This is also why the developer is utilizing AMD’s new “cutting-edge” technology forForspoken’sgame development. Aramaki went on to say that high frame rates at 4K with precise optimization are important for the best gameplay experience possible, and FSR provides that. He noted that the FSR is ideal due to its compatibility with the various gaming platforms and its “extremely fast processing speeds.”
According to Aramaki, the implementation process of FSR was seamless and only took one day to complete for the developer. He said that from an image quality standpoint, the main difference between the highest quality settings and native resolution rendering is undetectable. According to the video, the developer also ran into no problems with FSR integration.
Forspokenalready has a lot of competition when it comes to video games with incredible visual graphics, especially on the photo-realistic side likeResident Evil Village. However, the AMD Tech Showcase video shows some of the graphical performance ofForspokenrunning at 4K 60fps. Aramaki concluded by saying that Luminous Productions can’t wait for players to see and experience the next-gen graphics inForspokenthemselves.
