Square Enix shared a new video to highlight the exclusive features ofForspokenon PlayStation 5 and how the game will use Sony’s hardware to improve immersion. The DualSense controller is at the heart of this presentation, withForspokenaiming to provide an optimal experience for all players.
Forspokenis an upcoming action-RPG published by Square Enix and developed by Luminous Productions, the company behindFinal Fantasy 15. This narrative-driven adventure follows the story of Frey Holland, a New Yorker teleported to the fantasy world of Athia. Thanks to her sentient bracelet Cuff, Frey has access to magical powers allowing her to traverse this unknown world andfind a way back to the Big Apple.

In a recent video published on PlayStation’s YouTube channel, Square Enix unveils more of the next-gen features included inForspoken. To provide an “immersive gameplay experience found nowhere else,”Forspokenwill use most of theDualSense controller features, from the adaptive triggers to the haptic feedback and built-in speakers.
Forspokenwill let players adjust the power of their magic spells with the adaptive triggers of the DualSense, allowing them to apply varying levels of force and tension depending on their needs. The controller’s haptic feedback and vibrations will transcribe the relief of each kind of terrain asFrey makes her way through Athia. The built-in speakers, located between the two joysticks of the DualSense, will broadcast the discussions of Frey’s allies.
On top of these PlayStation 5-exclusive features, Square Enix revealed the digital pre-order bonus for the platform. Players who pre-orderForspokenon Sony’s console will receive various PlayStation-themed cosmetics, including the No Limits Cloak, the Symbol Combo Necklace, and the Trigger Happy Nails. These items all bear the cross, square, circle, and triangle logosfeatured on all PlayStation controllers, branding Frey as a true PlayStation fan. All pre-orders also include the Crafting Starter Kit, but Square Enix hasn’t yet revealed what it included.
Forspokenwill come out on both PC and PlayStation 5, with a two-year exclusivity deal preventing it from reaching Xbox Series X/S until at least June 11, 2025.Forspokenwon’t be available on last-gen consoleslike the PlayStation 4, as the game’s director Takeshi Aramaki explained that only next-gen consoles were able to provide the gameplay experience Luminous Productions wanted for its new adventure. PlayStation 5 owners can already try these immersive features as a playable demo ofForspokenis already available on the Playstation store.
Forspokenwill release on Jul 08, 2025 for PC and PS5.
