Two weeks after its long-awaited launch,Final Fantasy 16has been updated to version 1.03 to address some complaints that players had with the game and to add a widely requested feature. The latest entry in theFinal Fantasyseries had over three million units sold globally within its launch window. While that number is just shy of the five million units that its predecessorFinal Fantasy 15had, the latter’s sales were across both the PS4 and Xbox One initially, which made the launch ofFinal Fantasy 16all the more remarkable considering the PS5’s smaller install base. ThoughFinal Fantasy 16was lauded for its visuals and its over-the-top Eikon battles, the game was not without its flaws. The feature was highly requested across social media following reports of someFinal Fantasy 16players getting sick from motion blur, with reports of motion sickness and queasiness after playing the game for a little while. The motion blur now has a slider that can be turned off by sliding it down to zero, and it can go up to the pre-update version at level five.
In addition, three new control types were added. One of the new control types, Type D, reverses the Evade and Eikonic Feat buttons, which may please gamers that are used to dodging by pressing the Circle button. In addition, the horizontal and vertical camera sensitivity settings ranges were doubled, along with some stability fixes for the menus. While it remains to be seen what effect these changes will have on players already atFinal Fantasy 16’s endgame, the fact that Creative Business Unit 3 worked to address the motion blur complaints swiftly did not go unnoticed by players on social media.
With these new features and a slew of challenges for players to take on, there are plenty of reasons to see whyFinal Fantasy 16is an enjoyable thrill ride. Only time will tell what further tuning will take place in the future.
