WithFinal Fantasy 14releasing a new expansion this week, all of the playable jobs are gettingbrand new spells and abilities to play with inEndwalker. However, some old abilities have been removed to make room for the new ones, and Redditor Thefleetingdream has made a short video tribute to those job actions and animations that are being retired in 6.0.
Endwalkeris changing how many jobs inFinal Fantasy 14play, with some seeing more significant changes than others. While every job is getting some new abilities, only about half of them are losing some of their old skills.

The video posted by Thefleetingdream goes through all of the skills, abilities, and spells being retired and showcases their animations in one final hurrah. They made this video as a living chronicle of the abilities, since afterEndwalker’slaunch this week, none of these abilities or animations will be available in game.
Classes like the White Mage and Samurai are only having one or two skills removed, mostly because the abilities have grown obsolete or utilize mechanics that have been removed from the game, like the Samurai’s Open Eyes buff when hit while Third Eye is active. Others, like the Black Mage, Astrologian, Monk, and Dragoon are having stance-like abilities baked into the class as passive traits. However, theSummoner is being completely overhauled inFinal Fantasy 14, meaning nearly a dozen abilities have been removed from them alone.
This isn’t the first timeFinal Fantasy 14has removed job actions from the game–every expansion pack sees changes to the combat system, which usually include the removal of abilities. Players are not sad to see many of these skills go, especially battle stances like theFF14Black Mage’s Enochianand Dragoon’s Blood of the Dragon because it means one less thing to keep track of during hectic boss battles.Final Fantasy 14is pretty good at maintaining balance between jobs, so these sorts of changes are welcome to keep the classes interesting, fresh, and competitive.
That said, some players are sad to see some of these job actions go away; especially the animations.Final Fantasy 14’sprevious culling of actions have seen some fantastic and iconic animations removed from the game, such as theFF14Dark Knight’s Power Slash, the Dragoon’s Ring of Thorns, or the Bard’s Wide Volley. While it is sad to see the blue Blood of the Dragon aura or the Ninja’s Shadow Fang animations added to the ever-growing graveyard, it is possibleFinal Fantasy 14could bring them back some day in the future.
Final Fantasy 14is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5. TheEndwalkerexpansion launches on December 7.
