A bit of a detour off the beaten path,Final Fantasy 13was an experiment in change, especially from its predecessor in theFinal Fantasyseries. WhereFinal Fantasy 12provided a political epic with a certainStar Warsflair filled with side quests and a massive world,Final Fantasy 13opted for a streamlined, point A to point B experience with an intense story full of melodrama and self-discovery. The game also introduced new takes onclassicFinal Fantasymonstersand added bosses and a combat system worthy of remembrance.
Main characters Lightning, Snow, Sazh, Hope, Vanille, and Fang journey through the game and often engage in tense dialogue with one another before a boss appears.Final Fantasy 13’s take on classicFinal Fantasysummons(called Eidolons) often show up during a character’s most intense internal struggle, an outward representation of the l’Cie power inside them. However, woodwraith pals Enki and Enlil simply wake up to Vanille and Sazh trying to sneak by, and they quickly instigate a fight.

Enlil is the smaller of the two enemies, which both look sort of like moss-covered versions ofBlastoise fromPokemonwith face helmets and long locks of hair. One Reddit fan ofFinal Fantasy 13, finalfanatic168, decided to create a sculpture of the woodwraith and shared it. Although it’s not immediately clear what kind of substance is used in the sculpture, it certainly captures Enlil’s coloration and shows off the many elements of the forest inherent in its design.
During the creature’s boss fight, Enlil and Enki will trade attacks against Vanille and Sazh. Enlil has a particularly powerful lightning attack called Raging Tempest, while Enki has a similar attack called Raging Torrent. The good news is the woodwraiths are weak to each other’s attacks, so one strategy to beat them is to stick with the Medic paradigm and stay healthy while they damage one another. Another common strategy employed byFinal Fantasy 13players is to focus down Enlil with water spells and then finish off Enki last.
