WithDoom Eternalreleasing to rave reviews from both consumers and reviewers, it seems players are once again contemplating how well the series' iconic protagonist would fit into the world ofSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.Featuring in a number of somewhat dubious leaks and rumors, the character has long been discussed as a potential roster addition for the game, and while it might seem difficult to imagine the notoriously brutal hero taking up a DLC spot, some fans have already begun to envision what his presence in the title might look like.
Case in point, a recent video posted to Twitter by animator @MemoryNova, with the social media user going viral for posting a concept video of what the Doom Slayer’s victory pose forSuper Smash Bros.Ultimatecould look like. The video has gone on to amass over 24,000 likes by fans of the title, with many commenting that it’s an incredibly believable look at how the character could slot into Nintendo’s triple-A fighting phenomenon.

The victory pose itself begins with the now-iconicDoomsigil that debuted in the 2016 reboot, beforethe Doom Slayerhimself leaps down into shot, landing on a Cacodemon and punching it in the eye. He then leaps back into the air, brandishing a shotgun while mid-jump, before landing on an imp and crushing it. He then stands before his two defeated foes, holding his shotgun in one hand and raising his other arm in victory. Alongside this animation, theSuper Smash Bros Ultimateannouncer shouts “The Doom-Slayer wins,” with that sentence alone feeling oddly fitting.
Rumors surrounding the addition of the Doom SlayertoSuper Smash Bros Ultimatehave swirled ever since the beginning of the game’s DLC roster announcements, with many toting his name as a possibility to make an appearance in the game. Bethesda does have a solid connection with Nintendo, especially as many of the company’s biggest games have made their way to Switch, withDoom2016 appearing on the console and aDoom Eternalport currently scheduled to follow suit.
Naturally, it’s hard to imagine how the ultra-violent nature ofDoomwill fit with the more child-friendly tone ofUltimate, however, the lack of gore in MemoryNova’s victory animation alone shows that the possibility might be more attainable than some may think. Regardless, recent surveys have peggedKingdom Hearts’Sora as the most requested potential fighter forSmash, while names like Crash Bandicoot,Sephiroth,Steve fromMinecraft, and Danteall also make the cut. Hopefully, the Doom Slayer is a bigger possibility than his brutal source material paints him to be.
